vetkai means the demand of the mind to ask for more experience.
it is the demand of the mind to ask more makes people to shop around philosophies ( vedhantham)to experience the truth or the ultimate by the mind which it can never do.People continue to seek vedanta yet their minds demands do not end as long as they do not realize that it is impossible to experience by the mind. Because mind always compares any experience with its past experience hence some thing already 'known'. since it can never recognize any thing truly 'new', it is caught in its illusory search.

Now in the second line Thirumoolar says. Know (once and for all) the true end of search veda antha meaning end or beyond vedas is the understanding that vedhanam avadhu or vedhantham enappaduvan enna enral 'vetkai' ( desire or the inner demand of the mind for more experience more)
Ozhindiam (permanenent removal) . in other words when the mind loses its natural tendency to demand more experience.

    Now thirumoolar says.

it is the demand of the mind to ask more makes people to shop around philosophies ( vedhantham)to experience the truth or the ultimate by the mind which it can never do.People continue to seek vedanta yet the habit or tendency of the mind to demand does not end. So long as they do not realize that it is impossible to experience by the mind it would continue its age old habit of demanding experience. Because mind always compares any experience with its past experience hence some thing already 'known'. since it can never recognize any thing truly 'new', it is caught in its illusory search.

Now in the second line Thirumoolar says. Know (once and for all) the true end of search veda antha (meaning end or beyond vedas) is the understanding that vedhanam avadhu or vedhantham enappaduvan enna enral 'vetkai' ( desire or the inner demand of the mind for more experience more)
Ozhindiam (permanenent removal) . in other words when the mind loses its natural tendency to demand more experience.

Only when the habit of the mind to 'desire more experience' dies that is where one understanding of the truth takes place. Till such time it is a vainful search for a black cat in a dark room which is not there.

Interesting verse. Nice explanation with meaning of words etc.
Thanks, Natarajan; especially that bit about the habits of the mind....

This is similar to Patanjali's YOGA: CHITHA VRITTI NIRODHA:-meaning Yoga is cessation or control of the mind or the mental waves or the mental turbulance.
Krishna says in the Gita -SANCHALAM HI MANA:KRISHNA-the nature of the mind is sanchalam or confusion, turbulance.

It can be also compared to the Bible verse: "Be Still and know I am thy Lord'. One can only know God when the mind is still.
