Thank you dear of (@ d150-40-7.home.cgocable.net)!
That home page of statistician Siromoney is simply superb!! Lots of interesting links pertaining to music, script-Vagriboli dialect/language of the Narikoravas, and articles such as entropy of Tamil prose....etc. etc....

    Dear Vani,
It is indeed amazing, isn't it? Did you get a chance to take a look at his articles on the ancient Tamil scripts and also the article on Kolam?

    hello
In order to use TSCII I need to download Murasu anjal font and even a writer. There is no need for such exercises if I am going to use Unicode. Unicode provides a unique number for every character, no matter what the platform, no matter what the program, no matter what the language. Its soon becoming a internationally accepted standard and accepted by MNC companies. whereas TSCII is not. WIndows 2000 and Windows XP supports unicode right out of the box. Heck, even linux started supporting unicode through GNOME and KDE. And hence the earlier post. Not that I have anything against TSCII.

    Hi anbu,
thanks, but why these kirukkals instead of Tamil letters? Can't unicode use our existing Tamil letters? If there has to be a reform, then shouldn't there be one that is acceptable to all, these new letters that have been included in this unicode typing look bizarre and do not fit in, they make Tamil look like Sanskrit or Hindi. Who approved these letters?

    Hello
Yes, i took a quick look at the one on kOlam patterns (hridayakamalam kolam)and found the one on mridangam mnemonics particularly interesting.I did not quite follow everything on that entropy article and that bit on machine language-still it is nice that interdisciplinary work has been accomplished in the realm of music, linguistics and engineering science.

    for ,

the encodings were approved by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu and Tamil Virtual University and off course the Government of India, Ministry of Information Technology.

I personally don't find anything wrong with the way unicode tamil looks.

    ---

If you are using win xp or 2000 right click your mouse, change the encoding to "unicode".Now You should be able to see the tamil letters. If you are using win 98 go ahead & do the same, except you need to use either M.S.I.Explorer 5.5 or 6.0
    as your browser.
