    Cure for Hepatitis A

My niece who recently came back from India, is found to be suffering from Hepatitis A.
The doctors told me that there is no cure for it, and that she has to come out on her on.
I was adviced to give her only steamed food.
I would be grateful to advices given on the type of food to be given, and any herbal treatment that can be given. Thanks.

The best known herb is "keezanelli"; if available fresh, the leaves must be ground to a paste & swallowed( bitter in taste, a little sugar soon after helps). The herb is available in tablet forms also like Liv52. Generally the cure is relieving the germs from liver by urinating freely, which is aided by large intake of canesugar(karumbu) juice & tender coconut(ilaneer). Raw jaggery can be eaten as candy in large quantities.

    Cure for Hepatitis A

    Dear Pavalamani,
    Thanks for your advice.
I have been giving her lots of tender coconut juice.
    She also drinks barley water.
As a change I will give her sugar cane water too.
I only give her lots of vegetables boiled along with rice as poridge.
I will try to get the herbal tablets soon.
    Thanks again. KR

Is there no vaccination for Hepatitis A and B?

When I first travelled to Sri Lanka I took vacs against polio, tetanus Hep A and Hep B. Hep B injection has to be refreshed befor the end of 6 months after the first Hep B injection. These Hep Vacs agaist A and B lasts a lifetime.

Protein rich diet is recommended after recovery. My favourite bland diet dish for my convalascing children has been "pottukadalai" powdered in the mixie with a little salt added. Goes well with idli, dosa, curd rice etc. as a nutritious & harmless sidedish.
