MGR - a great personality ever in indian screen.
Really? Huh....that kinda funny. MGR... the most sucesssful politician with a Cinema Background in India. When MGR was active, KK was lost!
read it again, it still goes under MGR and doesn't change any tone. This thread isn't just about his Acting Career, Makkal Thilagam also goes under Political since he did many good things to the people!!

"Atcham enbadhu madamaiyada" is evergreen.
How many of you are aware that DMK ignored MGR in the Fifties in favour of Sivaji?
MGR made his debut in 1936 while Sivaji made his debut in 1952 but quickly stole his thunder with sharp dialogue delivery.
In the Sixties, DMK shifted to MGR. This was a turning point in TN history.

But MGR was in DMK for a while before he went off to create ADMK.
Shivaji was never very good @ politics, he's agreed that himself.

MGR separated from DMK in the Seventies.
Unlike Sivaji, MGR had a clear-cut political ambition even in at the time of his film debut in 1936. That's why his films have a repetitive social message.
Pick a MGR film each from the Thirties, Forties, Fifties, Sixties and Seventies. The plot will revolve around a social moral and message that's constant.
Some may find it boring. But I found it amazing. It proves that MGR never changed his core values from 1936 to 1977 to 1988. That's the real MGR.

Although Shivaji was better @ acting than MGR was, he didn't have MGR's Charisma. Which is a factor in his political failure.

me not much noesis regards to MGR's politics BUT...his films i guess i must have seen all of them
they give hopes made me feel this world better place especially india..
his fastidious attitude in film industry , his songs
B&W movies refined .
i have seen my friends mocking his voice (after shooting hapnd)..
but he speeks very good tamil see 'kaanji thalaivan' .astonishing looks , verbal aptitude
kann pOna pOkile kaal pogalaamaa...hollywood visage ..
contrary as in character ... in 'thaali bhaagyam'...real country looks
MGR his own successor
thanks
