    Aravind:
Thx for letting us know "Sundhari Soundhari Nirandhariyae" is kurinji--it remains one of my favorite songs to date. Does anyone know the situation of that song? I have not seen Thookku Thookki. Thx.

    Kanchana! Kanchana!

I saw Thook Thook last weekend in Raj TV.
Sivaji got pissed with his wife (Kolaiyum seivAL
pathini) and her sort-of-an-affair with somebody
and trying to attack her madly - she pulled some string and ULTAed the whole thing - Sivaji on
the run to some other country posing as a KIRUKAN.
He meets two sisters - Padmini & Ragini going
to the temple following them. He acts as a
Kirukan by repeating and doing whatever others are
    saying/doing:
    Yov YaaryA nee!
    Yov YaayyA nee!

    inga pArrA solratha thirumbi solrAn
    inga pArrA solratha thirumbi solrAn

    sariyana kirukan pOla
    sariyana kirukan pOla

then in the temple, sisters start singing -
SivAji repeats the same lines - initially they
get irritated and later they start enjoying it and
appoint him as thooku thooki - one who caaries
stuff around when Ranis go places.

Then I switched the channels and started watching
NinaithAlE inikkum - BIG RAJINI FAN!!
    BIG RAJINI FAN!!

Another GR song from SathAram is:

    ninainthu ninainthu nenjam uruguthE

Aayiram Peyarudaiya Aboorva Sindhamani Bones: Thank you!

(Digression: Is there a classic TV cable channel in Madras where you get to watch good oldies? That's a great way for you to stay in touch with the oldies; here in the U.S. I just rely on my CD/audio/video-cassette collections. Of late, some classics are coming out in DVD.)

    To sathiya keerthi:

I think the song "Kaatru veliyile kannammaa" is based on the ragam mohanam.

    To Kanchana :
'Of late, some classics are coming out in DVD.'

Do you mean DVD or Video CD ? In New Jersey, I have seen old and new Tamil movies displayed on Video CD. But not DVD. I haven't seen and Indian movie on DVD.

    Digression (contd.):

PG: I've responded to your DVD/CD question in the Technology and TFM thread in this forum to minimize the extent of digression here & look forward to your response there. I apologize for the inconvenience.

One more movie for which GR composed music:
Chakravathy ThirumagaL starring MGR, PS Veerappa, Anjali Devi, S.Varalakshmi et al. Not upto par versus Ambikapathy & Thookku Thooki. One of the funny songs is un athaanum naanthaanae sattai pothaanum naanthaanae, one other duet by Seerkazhi & Pleela was OK, another duet was a ragamalgai like Ambikapathy's maasilla nilavae but not as good. Is this too much info?

I saw "Theivathin theivam" last week, I had been
thinking (and also listed in PPP) all along that
MD was KVM...but to my surprise it was GR.

    It had few good songs:
kannan mana nilail thangamE thangam - SJ
nee illAtha ulagathilE nimmathy illai - PS

For a chnage from his karnatic agramippu, GR has
given good mellisai in this movie.

The movie had its KSG touches. After seeing few
movies of KSG (saradha, kumudham, deivathin deivam,
kai kodutha theivam, karpagam) I have become a BIG
fan of KSG. His charactrization is GREAT, dialogues
    and screenpaly are really good.
He has SUCH a positive attitude towards life which
reflects in his characters. Even villains in his
movies are very straightforward tell the hero that
they don't like him - also once-n-while he shows
    the humane side of villains.

I want to write so much about his movies..but this
is NOT the place - will put them in PPP.

    MANITHANEYA dir. KSG vAzga!

    Bones:
At the risk of digressing some of the later movies of KSG include Panamaa Paasamaa, Uriraa Maanamaa, Kulamaa Gunamaa, Vaazhayadi Vaazhai and Adhi Paraasakthi.

In Deivathin Deivam, kannanin mana nilayai is a Bharadhiyar song to which GR's music does justice. ungaLukku andha padathil varra annamae PS/LRE paattu pidikkalayaa?
