I think Vaanathi means one who rules the sky(heaven). It is the name of an ancient Chozhaa princess.

But the more common meaning of 'Vaanathi' is - The Ganges River - the vaan = sky, nathi = river. The river that originates up there in the Sky (the Himalayas).
