    I just pulled this out of the archive. After two years. The singer is of course S.Varalakshmi. But the heroine in the movie "Harichandra" with Sivaji Ganesan is G.Varalakshmi. GV does not sing. You must see S.Varalakshmi in the movie "Vazhkkai" which was the first movie for Vyjayanthimala. May be the first tamil movie for S.Varalakshmi also, I am not sure. But she is so young and beautiful in that movie. She also sings in that movie. However, she aged too soon. Her role in the movie Veerapandiya Kattabomman as Kattabomman's wife is unforgettable. So Majestic. Her song from the movie "Kavarimaan" is "Solla Vallaayyo Kiliye". It is a Bharathiayar song. A lovely song by S.Varalakshmi is "Neela Nira Maygam Ellaam Neeye Kanna". I think it is from the movie "Thirumalai Dheivam".

    Varalakshmi is one of those actress who can sing as well as act ( like banumathi). See this movie 'Veera paandiya kattabomman) she comes as mrs.Veerapaandiyakattabomman. She has sung a quite a few number of songs. In film Rajaraja sozhan She has acted as well as sung this song -"eedu thandhaanadi thillaiyilae". An actress witha gifted voice-varalakshmi.
