Vedalam which released in All-Time record number of 105 screens in Malaysia has taken a historical opening in Malaysia. The movie has collected 6,571,533 MYR [$1,497,137 Rs 9.89 Cr]. It's the highest opening weekend gross for a Tamil Movie in Malaysia. The movie has already emerged as Thala's highest grossing movie in the country in just 6 days, not just that but Vedalam is already the 4th highest grossing movie of All-Time next to Endhiran, Sivaji & I.

I agree with the argument that next generation took over but Kamal has done three movies in a short time and thoongavanam is the third one and it was not appealing to B/C audience because of the "unique plot". We certainly need to consider that. Even Ajith, Vijay, Vikram are doing yearly one movie. If they do three-four movie in a year, would you expect the same result? I am just curious. We have to consider how many movie the top actor does and how often he releases. Is he giving enough time for his fans to "starve" for his movie?

Three movies in a short span is a poor excuse for Kamals shortcomings at BO.
His worst was his first one, and this one came after a gap of more than 2 yrs.

Sorry unable to explain in UK. VJ has a very strong hold (may be due to srilankan population?!). But whatever i told for US is true.

Yes, VJ's main fan base in UK are of "Eezha diaspora", many of them are guys aged 30 and under, they try to associate them with his "guy next door look", and the fact he is married to Lankan Tamil girl make his fans rather sentimental over here. Rajni has the 2nd best fan base in UK , mostly aged 30+ Family audience with a combination of Eezha diaspora + IT crowd from TN/AP, I have seen loads of Telugu guys watch Rajni movies in Cinema, next is Ajith/Surya mainly aged under 35 with family audience , then it is Kamal whose main fans are from TN/AP followed by Dhanush/Shimbu ....etc
