Vijay is celebrating his 41st birthday and his loyal fans have created the hash tag #HBDDearVijay which has topped the Twitter trends.
Not just the Twitter trends, the response generated byPuliteaser which was officially launched yesterday (June 21) is phenomenal. The original version is all set to reach one million views within twenty four hours on You Tube.
Apparently,Puli is considered to be a crucial film in Vijay¡¯s career, not just because of the big budget involved.It¡¯s been a long time since a top Tamil hero acted in a period film. Though Kamal tried in Marudhanayagam, the film is on hold for a long time while Rajini couldn¡¯t start Rana and the motion capture historic-war film,Kochadaiiyaanwas a colossal failure.
Among the current generation heroes, Vikram tried to act as king in Karikalan but the film got shelved. So after MGR and Sivaji Ganesan, probably Vadivelu¡¯s Imsai Arasan 23 Am Pulikesi might be the only successful period drama. But it was neither an action film nor Vadivelu a top hero! Interestingly Chimbu Devan, the director of Puli helmed Pulikesi. So if Vijay¡¯s Puli become a huge success, it will break the long time jinx in Kollywood that a period genre does not work!
Though Puli is said to be a film produced by his Vijay's PRO PT Selvakumar and Shibu Thameens, the actor is rumoured to be the ghost producer. Vijay is riding a wave as his last film Kaththi was a huge hit. Now all eyes are on Puli if it will outdo Kaththi business!
