‘Veerapandiya Kattabomman’ leaves his fans in a trance

Digitally enhanced version of the movie was released on Friday.

Fans of ‘Sivaji’ Ganesan were a jubilant lot as the digitally enhanced version of the legendary actor’s iconic film Veerapandiya Kattabomman hit the screens on Friday.

At the Kalaiarangam theatre here, where the movie is on show, fans performed “paal abhishekam” and showered flowers on the banners of ‘Sivaji’ Ganesan put up on the theatre premises.

“It is like celebrating a festival for us. To mark the occasion, we distributed sweets and saplings to the audience,” said S. Annadurai, a fan.

Directed by B.R. Panthulu, the film’s star cast includes “Sivaji” Ganesan, “Gemini” Ganesh, and Padmini. Music was scored by G. Ramanathan.

“It was a great experience to watch the movie in digitised format. Such an outstanding film has to be watched by everyone. This film will emulate Karnan , which got a great reception on its release in digitised format,” said Gani, a fan.

The movie, originally released more than half a century ago, has been upgraded to the digital 5.1 surround sound format.

Great delight

S. Selvam, a fan, said it was a “great delight” to listen to his idol’s booming baritone in the digital format.

Several fans who watched the first day first show stayed back in the theatre to catch the subsequent show as well.

Veerapandiya Kattabomman woos all



The remastered version of Veerapandiya Kattambomman has caught the admiration of people of all age groups.

The patriotic film that got re-released yesterday won huge support among people of all age-groups.

People thronged theatres in large numbers and there was celebrations by thespian Sivaji Ganesan fans across the State.

Crackers were burst and Sivaji Ganesan’s cut-out was decorated in may theatres. There were chants hailing him.

Directed by B R Panthulu, the movie is about the valorous king Veerapandiya Kattabomman who fought against British empire.

Gemini Ganesan, Padmini, Javar Seetharaman acted in the movie.

டிஜிட்டலில் `வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன்’: மகிழ்ச்சியில் சிவாஜி ரசிகர்கள்



திரைப்பட நடிகர் மறைந்த சிவாஜி கணேசன் நடித்த வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன் திரைப்படம் தற்போது டிஜிட்டல் தொழில்நுட்பத்தில் மாற்றப்பட்டு, தமிழகம் முழுவதும் நேற்று திரையிடப்பட்டது. இதனால் சிவாஜி ரசிகர்கள் பெரும் மகிழ்ச்சியில் திளைத்துள்ளனர்.

இந்தியாவில் ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் ஆட்சிக்காலத்தில் அவர்களை எதிர்த்துப் போரிட்டவர்களில் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க இடத்தைப் பெற்றவர் வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன். நடிகர் சிவாஜி கணேசன் நடித்த வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன் வாழ்க்கை வரலாற்று திரைப்படம் 1959-ம் ஆண்டு வெளியானது. அப்போது தமிழகம் முழுவதும் ஏராளமான திரையரங்குகளில் திரையிடப்பட்டு, பெரும் வெற்றியைப் பெற்றது.

திரைப்படத் துறையில் தொழில்நுட்பங்கள் பிரபலமாகாத காலத்திலேயே மிகப் பிரம்மாண்டமான முறையில் தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட இந்த திரைப்படம் தற்போது புதிய தொழில்நுட்பத்துடன் டிஜிட்டல் மயமாக்கப்பட்டு வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

திருச்சி கலையரங்கம் திரையரங்கில் நேற்று வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன் திரைப்படம் திரையிடப்பட்டது. இதையொட்டி சிவாஜி கணேசனின் ரசிகர்கள் ஏராளமானோர், திரையங்க வளாகத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த ஃஃபிளக்ஸ் பேனரில் உள்ள சிவாஜி கணேசனின் படத்துக்கு மலர்கள் தூவியும், பால் அபிஷேகம் செய்தும் தங்களது மகிழ்ச்சியை வெளிப்படுத்தினர். திரைப்படத்தை காண வந்த ரசிகர்களுக்கு மரக்கன்றுகளும் வழங்கப்பட்டன.

இதுகுறித்து அகில இந்திய சிவாஜி மன்ற சிறப்பு அழைப்பாளர் எஸ்.அண்ணாதுரை ‘தி இந்து’விடம் கூறியது: ஏற்கெனவே வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன் திரைப்படத்தை பல முறை பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். தற்போது டிஜிட்டல் தொழில்நுட்பத்தில் பார்க்கும்போது, அதில் வரும் சப்தங்களும், வசன உச்சரிப்புகளும் தெளிவாக உள்ளன. ஃபிலிமில் படம் பார்க்கும்போது இடையிடையே கோடுகள் வரும். ஆனால், புதிய தொழில்நுட்பத்தால் தற்போது காட்சிகள் தெளிவாக உள்ளன. இது வித்தியாசமான அனுபவமாக உள்ளதால் சிவாஜி ரசிகர்களுக்கு மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியான விஷயமாக அமைந்தது என்றுதான் சொல்ல வேண்டும்.

நாம் இன்று சுதந்திர இந்தியாவில் வசித்து வருகிறோம். நம்மை அடிமைப்படுத்தி வைத்திருந்த ஆங்கிலேயர்களை எதிர்த்து வீரத்துடனும், தீரத்துடன் போரிட்ட வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன் கதாபாத்திரத்தை ஏற்று நடித்த சிவாஜி கணேசன் அந்த கதாபாத்திரத்துடன் ஒன்றி, கட்டபொம்மனாகவே மாறி நடித்திருந்தார்.

இந்த திரைப்படத்தை மாணவ, மாணவிகளும், இளைஞர்களும் கட்டாயம் பார்க்க வேண்டும். அப்போதுதான் நாட்டின் மீது பற்றுதல் அதிகமாகும் என்றார்.
