Born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad and re-christened as Rajinikanth, the undisputed 'Superstar' completes 40 years in cinema. The style samrat was introduced by K Balachander in Apoorva Raagangal, which was released exactly 40 years back on the 18th of August 1975.

From a bus conductor to being THE Superstar, his journey has been a roller-coaster ride. His work ethics, screen presence, dialogue delivery, the swag that he possesses on screen and most of all his unmatchable style and speed, are some of his major traits as an actor.

He is among the biggest ever stars that the world of Indian cinema has ever seen, but the man still remains simple, modest and humble. Yes, it’s been 40 years of hard work that has made Rajinikanth the Superstar that he is today. But what amazes us the most is his undying passion towards cinema even today. He is also someone who never shies away from appreciating good talent.

You don’t get to see a Superstar film often, as in recent years he has limited his acting stints. But whenever he acts, the curiosity level shoots up to the levels of Burj Khalifa. That's the same case with his upcoming 159th film with director Ranjith which has been titled as Kabali.

Film industries have seen many superstars, but only some rare gems out of them would elevate to a demigod status. The same day, forty years ago marked the entry of a man who would become the most celebrated demigod. Only the intellectuals and critics use the term ‘demigod’ to denote the level of celebrity status of this man. For a large number of his entire fan fraternity, he is the ‘god’ -born as a man with blood and flesh-who has to be worshipped. No marks for guessing that we are referring to the one and only evergreen Superstar Rajinikanth. His debut film ‘Apoorva Ragangal’ was released on August 18, 1975 and today the acting career of Rajini has completed four decades. It may sound like an adage, but it is true that Rajini’s unbelievable growth was not earned overnight. It meant years of toils, insults, rejections and embarrassments and it took phenomenal confidence, perseverance and hard work for this man to become what he is today. Rajini was introduced to the film industry by director K.Balachander who was at the peak of his career at that moment. But that and the super hit status of his debut film didn’t fetch a flood of offers to Rajini. In his initial days Rajini had to long for offers. He had to travel hundreds of kilometers for an acting chance only to be rejected finding fault with his appearance. But perseverance paid and Rajini slowly started getting noticed as a villain and character artiste. His Gurunathar KB had trust in him and cast him in many of his films for negative and supportive roles which also drew the attention of his peer directors towards Rajini When Rajini became a powerful villain/supporting actor ,he slowly transformed as a hero material and his first film as a lead hero was ‘Bhairavi’ which was his 26th release including the films he acted in Telugu and Kannada. The success of the film fetched him more hero offers and at one point of time he became the busiest actor. He acted as hero in 25 films which released in a short span of three years and that marked the emergence of Rajini, the star. The rest is history as they say. The year 1995 was an important turning point in Rajini’s professional career as it saw the release of blockbuster film ‘Baasha’ which is still revered as his masterpiece by many of his fans and fans of other actors. At the same time Rajini’s voice on Tamil Nadu’s political situation played a role in the state assembly elections held in the following year and that was the point when people especially his fans expected Rajini to enter politics. However Rajini’s political entry remains a dream till date. After delivering a blockbuster in 2010 with ‘Enthiran’ Rajini suffered a massive health problem which caused a three year hiatus in his acting career. His comeback film ‘Kochadiiyaan’ which was shot with the all new performance capture technology and his last ‘Lingaa’ failed to make wonders at the box office and the latter incurred some bitter experiences for the Superstar from the distributors' side When his critics started penning stories calling it as the ‘sunset’ of Rajini’s empire, the sexagenarian star hit a master stroke by teaming up with director Ranjith who is one of the highly acclaimed young directors. The film titled as ‘Kabali’ will be going on floors from September and it will remain in headlines for many months to follow. Rajini will be reportedly joining hands with director Shankar for the sequel of his blockbuster sci-fi entertainer ‘Enthiran’ in 2016. Though this project is yet to be officially confirmed the news stories about the star cast, technical crew and the budget of this film are hitting the headlines of cinema news columns. This proves the sun of the Superstar’s empire is still shining ablaze. ரஜினி கொடுத்த பரிசு, கமல் கண்ணீர்- உச்சநட்சத்திரங்கள் உருகிய தருணம்சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிகாந்த் திரையுலகிற்கு வந்து 40 வருடங்கள் ஆனதையொட்டி கொண்டாட்டங்கள் களைகட்டத் தொடங்கிவிட்டது. இந்த நிலையில் திரைத் துறையில் கமல் 50 ஆண்டுகள் நிறைவு செய்ததைக் கௌரவிக்கும் விதமாக 2010ம் ஆண்டு நடைபெற்ற பாராட்டு விழாவில் இருந்து சில காட்சிகள்..

தமிழ்த் திரையுலகமே திரண்டு வந்து 'கலைத் தாயின் தவப் புதல்வன்' என்று கமலை உச்சி மோந்த அந்த விழாவில் மேடையேறினார் ரஜினி. ''நான் அடிக்கடி யோசிப்பேன். இங்கே நான், மோகன்லால், மம்மூட்டி, வெங்கடேஷ், சரத்குமார் மாதிரியானவங்களை கலைத் தாய் தன் கையைப் பிடிச்சு அழைச்சுட்டுப் போறா. ஆனா, கமலை மட்டும் தோள்ல தூக்கிவெச்சு மார்போடு அணைச்சுட்டுப் போறா. நான் கலைத் தாய்கிட்டே கேட்டேன், 'ஏம்மா, இது உனக்கே நியாயமா? நாங்களும் உன் குழந்தைங்கதானே... அப்புறம் ஏன் இந்தப் பாரபட்சம்?'னு. அதுக்கு கலைத் தாய் சொன்னாங்க... 'ரஜினி! நீ போன ஜென்மத்துலதான் நடிகனாகணும்னு ஆசைப்பட்டே. ஆனா, கமல் ஒரு ஜென்மத்துல டான்ஸ் மாஸ்டர், இன்னொரு ஜென்மத்துல அசிஸ்டென்ட் டைரக்டர், வேறொரு ஜென்மத்துல நடிகர், இன்னும் ஒரு ஜென்மத்துல டைரக்டர்னு கடந்த 10 ஜென்மங்களா போராடிட்டு இருக்கான். அதனாலதான் கமலைத் தோளில்வெச்சுக் கொண்டாடுறேன்!'னு சொன்னா. கமல் வாழ்ந்த காலத்தில், கமல் நடித்த காலத்தில் நானும் வாழ்ந்தேன், நானும் நடித்தேன்கிற பெருமையே போதும்!' என்று படபடவெனத் தன் பாணியில் ரஜினி பாராட்டி அமர, கமல் கண்களில் கண்ணீர்த் திரை. தொடர்ந்து மேடையில் இருவரும் கட்டியணைத்துக் கண்ணீரில் கரைந்த அந்தக் கணங்கள் நட்பு இலக்கணத்துக்கான அபூர்வ அத்தியாயங்கள்.

ஆனால், அத்தியாயம் அதோடு முற்றுப் பெறவில்லை. விழா முடிந்து வீட்டுக்குச் சென்ற பிறகும் ரஜினியின் மனதில் நீங்காத நினைவலைகள். சட்டென்று முடிவெடுத்து, ஒரு பிரபல ஓவியரிடம் தனது மனதில் தோன்றிய எண்ணத்தைச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறார். கலைத் தாய் கமலைத் தன் தோளில் தூக்கிக்கொண்டு சிரஞ்சீவி, மோகன்லால், விஷ்ணுவர்தன், ரஜினி, அமிதாப் பச்சன் ஆகியோரைத் தன் கைப்பிடித்து அழைத்துச் செல்வது போன்ற ஓவியத்துக்கு உயிர் கொடுப்பதுதான் ரஜினியின் திட்டம். குழந்தை உடலில் இவர்களது இளமைக் காலத் தத்ரூப முகங்கள் வர வேண்டுமென்பது மாஸ்டர் பிளான். கமலுக்கு இந்த ஓவியம்பற்றிய தகவல் சென்றுவிடக் கூடாது என்று கண்டிப்பான உத்தரவிட்டிருக்கிறார் ரஜினி. 30 இஞ்ச் அகலமும், 40 இஞ்ச் உயரமுமாக ஓவியம் முழுமையடைந்தபோது ரஜினி முகத்தில் பரம திருப்தி.

கடந்த வாரத்தில் ஒருநாள் கமலுக்கு அந்த அன்புப் பரிசை அனுப்பி இருக்கிறார் ரஜினி. பார்சலைப் பிரித்து ஓவியத்தைப் பார்த்த கமல் நெகிழ்ந்துவிட்டார். சில நிமிடங்கள் ஓவியத்தை உற்றுப்பார்த்தவர் கண்களில் மெல்லிய கண்ணீர்த் திரை. உடனே, ரஜினியைத் தொடர்பு கொண்டார் கமல். ''ஹாய் கமல், எப்டி எப்டி? நல்லா இருந்துச்சா? ஆர் யூ ஹாப்பி?'' என்று ஆர்வமும் எதிர்பார்ப்புமாக விசாரித்திருக்கிறார். நெகிழ்வும் மகிழ்வுமாகப் பதில் வார்த்தைகளை உதிர்த்திருக்கிறார் கமல்.

''சிவாஜி, நாகேஷ் இவங்க ரெண்டு பேர் படம்தான் இதுவரை என் ஆபீஸ்ல மாட்டியிருக்கேன். இனி, ரஜினியின் இந்தப் பரிசுக்கும் என் ஆபீஸ்ல ஓர் இடம் நிரந்தரம்!'' என்று மனம் திறந்திருக்கிறார். உயிரைக் குழைத்து வரைந்த அந்த ஓவியம் ரஜினி - கமலின் நட்பின் நினைவுச் சின்னமாக கமலின் அலுவலகத்தில் மின்னிக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறது.

ரஜினி 40... அடையாளமில்லாமல் நுழைந்து இந்திய சினிமாவின் அடையாளமாய் மாறியவரின் கதை இது!

சூப்பர் ஸ்டார்... 1978-க்கு முன்பு வரை இப்படி ஒரு வார்த்தை இந்திய சினிமாவில் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டதில்லை. உலக சினிமா எதிலும் எந்த பெரிய நடிகருக்கும் இப்படி ஒரு அடைமொழியும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டதுமில்லை. சிலர் தியாகராஜ பாகவதர், ராஜேஷ் கன்னாவையெல்லாம் சொல்லக் கூடும். அவர்களை சூப்பர் ஸ்டார்கள் என அழைக்க ஆரம்பித்ததே தொன்னூறுகளுக்குப் பிறகுதான். அவர்கள் கோலோச்சிய காலங்களில் பாகவதர் ஏழிசை மன்னர் என்றுதான் அழைக்கப்பட்டார். ராஜேஷ் கன்னா இந்தியின் நம்பர் ஒன் நடிகர் என்றே அழைக்கப்பட்டார். இது சினிமா வரலாறு அறிந்தவர்களுக்குத் தெரியும். சினிமா வரலாற்றில் சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்ட முதல் நடிகர் ரஜினிகாந்த். அதுவும் 1975-லிருந்து வில்லனாக, துணை நாயகனாக நடித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தவர், முதல் முறையாக பைரவியில் நாயகனாக நடிக்கிறார். அந்த முதல் படத்திலேயே அவரை சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் என்று பட்டம் சூட்டி அழகு பார்த்தது தமிழ் சினிமா. அந்த சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் திரையுலகில் தடம் பதித்து இன்றோடு நாற்பது ஆண்டுகள் நிறைவடைகின்றன. 1975-ம் ஆண்டு இதே ஆகஸ்ட் 18-ம் தேதிதான் சிவாஜி ராவ் கெய்க்வாட் என்ற 24 வயது இளைஞர், ரஜினிகாந்த் என்ற பெயரில் தமிழ் சினிமாவில் அறிமுகமானார். அந்த வித்தியாசமான உடல் மொழி, வாய் மொழி காரணமாக அவரை தமிழ் ரசிகர்களுக்கு சட்டென்று பிடித்துப் போனது. அடுத்த படம் மூன்று முடிச்சு. அவர்தான் வில்லன் கம் கதாநாயகன். இதெப்டி இருக்கு? என்ற அந்த ஒற்றை பஞ்ச்... தமிழ் திரையுலகையே புரட்டிப் போட்டது. ஆரம்ப நாட்களில் ரஜினி ஒரு மொழியோடு நிற்கவில்லை. தெலுங்கு, கன்னடம் ஆகிய இரு மொழிகளிலும் சமமாகவே நடித்து வந்தார். வெற்றியும் கண்டார். 1977-ல் தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, கன்னடம் ஆகிய மூன்று மொழிகளில் அவர் நடித்தவை 15 படங்கள். 1978-ல் 20 படங்கள். 1979-ல் 13 படங்கள்! மூன்றே ஆண்டுகளில் 43 படங்கள்! இரவு பகல் தூக்கமின்றி, ஒரு நாளைக்கு அதிகபட்சமாக 21 மணி நேரம் நடித்துக் கொண்டே இருந்தார். ஆனால் ஒரு கட்டத்தில் தமிழில் மட்டுமே கவனம் செலுத்த முடிவு செய்தார். எண்பதுகளுக்குப் பிறகு சராசரியாக ஆண்டுக்கு எட்டுப் படங்கள் வரை நடித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தவர், 1983-ல் இந்தியில் அந்தாகானூன் படத்தில் அறிமுகமானார். தொடர்ந்து இந்திப் படங்களில் வெற்றிகரமான தென்னிந்திய ஹீரோவாக வலம் வந்தார். 1987-க்குப் பிறகு ஆண்டுக்கு நான்கைந்து படங்களாகக் குறைத்துக் கொண்டார். 1990-லிருந்து ஆண்டுக்கு மூன்று படங்களாகக் குறைத்தவர், 1993-க்குப் பிறகு ஆண்டுக்கு ஒரு படம் என்று அறிவித்தேவிட்டார். 2000- ஆண்டுக்குப் பிறகு இந்தியில் நடிப்பதை நிறுத்திக் கொண்டார் (புலந்தி) ரஜினி. தமிழில் அவர் நடிக்கும் படங்களே தெலுங்கு, இந்தியில் ரீமேக் ஆகி பெரும் வெற்றி பெற்றன. அந்த வகையில் சிவாஜி த பாஸ் பெரும் சாதனைப் படைத்தது வட மாநிலங்களில். கிபி 2000 தொடங்கி இந்த 2015 வரையிலான பதினைந்து ஆண்டுகளில் ரஜினி வெறும் 7 படங்களில் மட்டும்தான் நடித்திருக்கிறார். பாபா, சந்திரமுகி, சிவாஜி த பாஸ், குசேலன், எந்திரன், கோச்சடையான், லிங்கா என ஏழு படங்கள்தான். ஆனால் இந்தப் படங்கள்தான் இந்திய சினிமாவின் வர்த்தகத்தை உலகளவிய எல்லைக்குள் இட்டுச் சென்றன. இலங்கை, மலேசியா, சிங்கப்பூரைத் தாண்டாத இந்திய சினிமாக்கள் இன்று ஆப்பிரிக்கா, ஆஸ்திரேலியா, நியூஸிலாந்து, வட தென் அமெரிக்க கண்டங்கள், ஐரோப்பா, சீனா என வலம் வரக் காரணம், ரஜினியின் பாட்ஷாவும், முத்துவும் படையப்பாவும், சந்திரமுகியும், சிவாஜியும்தான். தமிழ் சினிமாவைப் பொருத்தவரை ரஜினியின் எந்திரன், சிவாஜி, லிங்கா வசூல்தான் இன்றும் வெளிநாட்டு பாக்ஸ் ஆபீசில் முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளன. வெற்றிப் படங்கள் என்பதைத் தாண்டி, சினிமாவில் ரஜினி ஏற்படுத்திய தாக்கங்கள் ஏராளமானவை. ஒரு கூலித் தொழிலாளி, முன்னாள் பஸ் கண்டக்டர், சினிமாவுக்கான அழகியல் ஏதுமற்ற மனிதன் கூட மிகப் பெரிய சூப்பர் ஸ்டாராக முடியும் என்ற நம்பிக்கையை விதைத்தவர் ரஜினி. வயது வித்தியாசம் தாண்டி அனைத்து மட்டங்களிலும் தனக்கான ரசிகர்களை உருவாக்கிக் கொண்டது ரஜினி செய்த இன்னொரு மாயாஜாலம். அதற்கு காரணம், சினிமாவின் போக்கை உணர்ந்து அதற்கேற்ப தன்னை அப்டேட் செய்து கொள்ளும் அவரது தன்மை. இன்றைய சினிமா ஹீரோக்கள் யாராக இருந்தாலும், அவர்களிடம் நிச்சயம் ரஜினியின் தாக்கம் இருக்கும். இன்று முன்னணி ஹீரோக்களாக உள்ள அஜீத்தும் விஜய்யும் தங்களை ரஜினியின் ரசிகர்களாக முன்னிறுத்தி வந்தவர்கள்தான். பலருக்கும் தெரியாத ஒரு உண்மை... விஜயகாந்தே ரஜினியின் ரசிகர் மன்ற செயலாளராக இருந்து, விஜயராஜ் என்ற தன் பெயரை விஜயகாந்த் என்று மாற்றிக் கொண்டு திரைக்கு வந்தவர்தான். இந்த நாற்பது ஆண்டுகளில் 37 ஆண்டுகள் ரஜினிகாந்த் அசைக்க முடியாத ஒரு சூப்பர் ஸ்டாராகவே வலம் வந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார். தமிழ் சினிமா பாக்ஸ் ஆபீஸில் எத்தனையோ ஹீரோக்கள் ஏற்ற இறக்கங்கள் கண்டாலும், இவர் மட்டும் அதே முதலிடத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கிறார். ரஜினி தோல்வியே கண்டதில்லையா? கண்டிருக்கிறார். ஆனால் தமிழ் சினிமா தயாரிப்பாளர் சங்கத் தலைவரான தாணு அந்த தோல்வி குறித்து என்ன சொல்கிறார் தெரியுமா? "ரஜினியின் தோல்விப் பட வசூலில் நான்கில் ஒரு பங்கைக் கூட, மற்ற பெரிய வெற்றிப் படங்கள் வசூலாகப் பெற்றதில்லை.. இதை இத்தனை காலமாகப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். அதுதான் ரஜினியின் திரையுலக ஆளுமை. அவர் படங்களால் யாரும் நஷ்டமடைந்ததில்லை. நஷ்டமடையவும் ரஜினி விட்டதில்லை. நஷ்டம் என்று சொல்பவர்கள் பொய் சொல்கிறார்கள் என்று அர்த்தம்!"

You are using his credibility when he gives statement on Aalavandhaan( you can refer your own threads),now you are questioning his credibility since he is praising Rajini.. Inga kodutha statement poiyave irundhuttu pogattum.. as you said his achievement already standing tall.. so these would not degrade Rajini's fame.. ungala maadhiri sila peru dhaan adha insultinga paarkareenga.. again adhu unga view.. irundhuttu pogattum..

I stand by what i said. its fact, not view. its not about who said, instead its about whats being said, that i reacted. even if any other genuine person had said the same words, my reaction is same
