    A brief study on the Tamil Dalits (Untouchables) of Tamil Nadu

    Among the wonderful Creations of God are all "Human Beings" both Males and Females - all having their respective anatomic features - the very same. By their destiny based on their - good and bad deeds (Karma) of the past birth, they were born in this World either in an educated and wealthy family - having a 'high' or 'moderate' standard of Life, or in an uneducated and very poor family - having a low or 'very low' standard of Life.

    Historically we note those who are from the 'uneducated and very poor families' were the most unfortunate in the "Tamil Society" - "with no education to secure respectables jobs with better emoluments", and "being very poor not having their basic needs of daily food, proper clothing, housing and education".

    It was these people both "with no education to secure a good jobs", and "with no money to meet their daily food" - are those who were driven towards menial jobs of working in dirt, waste matters, waste drains, human excreations, and other jobs which are considered as dirty, unclean, unhealthy, and with very low emoluments. These very unfortunate people were isolated in the Tamil society from the early days of Tamil Nadu - as "Untouchables". Towards the mid eighteenth century especially during the period of "Maraattiyar rule in Thanjavur" they came to be known as "Dalits - a Maraatiya word meaning the "Untouchables"

    The "Voice of Dalits" of Tamil Nadu "on their greivances and plight in Tamil Nadu" - Wondering when a "Free, Decent, and Happy Life among the Tamil Society " will dawn to them. Courtesy:

    (Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyaar refutes at Caste Disputes among the people of Tamil Nadu as follows)

    (a song by Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyaar)

    "சாதிப் பிரிவுகள் சொல்லி - அதில்
    தாழ்வென்றும் மேலென்றும் கொள்வார்.
    நீதிப் பிரிவுகள் செய்வார் - அங்கு
    நித்தமும் சண்டைகள் செய்வார்.

    சாதிக் கொடுமைகள் வேண்டாம்; - அன்பு
    தன்னில் செழித்திடும் வையம்;
    ஆதர வுற்றிங்கு வாழ்வோம்
    "

    The World is changing with new developments, having many other new job openings which are not considered menial, unclean and unhealthy comming forth - this section of the Tamil people of Tamil Nadu with no education and no good jobs with reasonable emoluments - are now gradually diverting into these new fields of developments in Tamil Nadu to meet their ends, and hence it is very "incorrect" to refer to them "any more" as "Dalits" or "Untouchables".

    With the new changes in Environment and Social Life in Tamil Nadu, in future "Dalits" (or any other so-called Low Class people of Tamil Nadu) having - higher education and jobs having high emoluments, self cultivated good social - habits and ettiquetes leading an ethical life, with healthy and clean - "Personal Habits and Practices" in his day to day life both at home and outside, can now proudly call himself as a "Higher Caste - Man or Women of good Social Standing".

    IT WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED IF THE STATE GOVERNMENT OF TAMIL NADU TAKES MUCH INITIATIVE AND DEVELOPS THE LIFE OF DALITS AND THEIR DALIT VILLAGES" IN TAMIL NADU.
