bhanu was telugu girl, she and shakti normally converse in english, her tamil was weak and she even cries in telugu

why shakti tries to write letter in tamil to her during his first night with panchavarnam?

ps. i didnt know about mayyam at that time and missed discussions on TM.

when Vijay TV conducted a poll of which is the best tamil movie, Thevar magan won it hands down - in public voting. .. thats called legacy, badsha will be forgetten in a while... not Thevar Magan/Nayagan.

Shivaji's movies are more popular than MGR's, except for a handful like Enga veetu pillai, Aayirathil oruvan. MGR's legacy is majorly due to politics. Pity Rajni, he dont have that as well now.

Vijaytv and their poll?
Average cine fan knows baasha before he finds about devar Magan. Baasha is more relevant to general public than thenaali or avvai shanmuhi or anything. It is not my favourite film but will always be the best known gangster film.
Both sivaji and mgr films are still popular and sivaji playing historical characters like karnan, veera paandita katta pomman etc helps his popularity.

Devar magan is the best film for kamal fans. It could even be the best inspired tamil film but Muthal Mariyathai is more popular among general audiences.
