    Narain fastest amongst rookies

    Sunday, 06 March , 2005, 13:04

Melbourne: Narain Karthikeyan had a none-too-impressive Formula One debut finishing 15th at the season opening Australian Grand Prix which was won by Renaults Giancarlo Fisichella on Sunday.
Karthikeyan started the race, which was flagged off with 20 drivers in fray, in 12th place before slipping to 18th on his first lap at the Albert Park circuit.

He finished at 15th spot, one place ahead of fellow Jordan rookie Tiago Monteiro of Portugal. Karthikeyan could take heart from the fact that he ended the race fastest amongst the rookies.

Defending champion Michael Schumacher of Ferrari failed to finish crashing out with 15 laps remaining..

if you were in India instead of Canada, you would have known, the media is hyping him so much that the Ind-Pak cricket series is all but forgotten.I was shocked to find out yesterday that the first test begins from TODAY!

Narain improved on his position from his debut race to finish 11th in the Malaysian grand prix yesterday.Renault's Fernando Alonso won the race while Ferrari once again struggled with Micheal finishing 7th to pick up 2 points while Rubens crashed out.The first two races of the season has seen Renault,Toyota,Williams&RedBull do very well while traditional strong finishers like Ferrari&Mclaren are struggling. While this has opened up the field&new faces are occupying the podium, fans of MS will surely be disappointed.Hope the Scarlet Red makes a strong comeback. After all whenever MS has been written off,he has comeback like a tornado.

Cinefan,Count on Schumacher to strike back. After all he is one of the all time greats of the sport.

And for Narain,I am glad he is being as sensible as he is.This is a tremendous improvement and he has proved that he belong to the big stage. This is only his second race in F1 and he is slowly but surely progressing towards a great career.I am sure not many people expected him to finish eleventh.

Any Malaysian Indians had been there?

He better strike back-the media&everyone else have very poor memories. The Indian Express writes "Once dominant Ferrari"as if they were dominant eons ago&not last year, the TOI says"Micheal crashed from his God-of-fast things into an also ran seventh &proved he also needs a great car to rise above all".

BTW blah blah, why is Ferrari struggling? Is it becos they are still using last years car,is it tyres,is it new regulations or is it that everyone has become better than them this year&MS has lost a bit of his skills?

I heard that at Bahrain, they are coming out with their new car.The success of Renault so far is attributed to their car.Schumacher and Ferrari have a history of striking back after McLaren winning three races at a row.

It was another disappointing day for Ferrari while Renault continued their amazing start to the season winning the race with Fernando Alonso. He started from pole&notched up his second consecutive win.It also took him to the top of the driver's standings with 26 points. For Ferrari, the new car made a verygood debut in qualifying as MS started out in 2nd place&was breathing down Alonso's neck for about 10 laps, but a hydraulic failure terminated his race rather prematurely. The new car has speed but it's reliability has came under a cloud. From here on,it will be very very very difficult for MS/Ferrari to win the championship/constructor's trophy.

After finishing his first two races,Narain had to retire with mechanical failure.
