    @ Rajasekar

Thanks & I will try definitely to go thru' that Book.
Regarding Directors whoever has distanced or disconnected from IR have been giving Flops only. (Many can be listed down here...). Very rare has survived. In fact, most of them have vanished from the Film Industry itself.(NO TRACE).
    Anyways, VAAZHGA VALAMUDAN ILAYARAJA.

I wish that I had filed a RTI two years ago when the National Award wasn't given to Maestro for Sree Rama Rajyam. The Telugu MPs and Telugu Associations worldwide never raised this anomaly in Parliament. In fact, no Telugu film was chosen for an award in 2012. The award process should be completely changed and problems like this should be highlighted. On what basis was Bharathiraja chosen to be a Kerala State Award jury member? The RTI brought out the truth in the award selection process. I hope that the National Award process is changed.

Orragane seems to be a hit:

    http://www.thehindu.com/features/cin...cle6173761.ece

"While the Kannada crowd is flocking the theatres to watch Oggarane, they have not taken to Drishya, which is a well-made film..."

"...‘Oggarane’ the Kannada version starring Prakash Raj is a sleeper hit even though the Tamil and Telugu versions are what in filmi parlance called ‘washout’, commercially..."

"...The success of the film also dispels the absolutely banal theory that Ilayaraja’s music doesn’t work in Kannada. How can you blame the garnishing when the food is bad? Listen to the maestro’s magical score when a delectable cake is being baked......"

"...‘Drishya’ is not as big a hit as ‘Oggarne’ but is doing steady business..."

    thanks,

    Krishnan

    what is a Trill?

    1. The trill (or shake, as it was known from the 16th until the 19th century) is a musical ornament consisting of a rapid alternation between two adjacent notes, usually a semitone or tone apart, which can be identified with the context of the trill.

See this video of how Raja sir uses trill in some of his songs.. (thanks to the good heart who posted this in youtube)

    @rajaramsgi
    That was very educative. Thanks.

IR seems to have used trill (technique?) with various instruments. Am I right?

This is another aspect of this master craftsmen.
we all will agree that his orchestration and use of Instruments and even chorus singer is at the highest level.
He is constantly finding newer sounds and experimenting with Kaala pramanam.
classic example is the "Three Note" he did for the Italian concert. He let SPB sing with limited breath (breathless) with mannil intha kaathal (one of my all time favorites) from Keladi kanmani.
The maya bazaar 1995 song with just chorus as progressive chords is un-imaginable from a layman's perspective.

The kannada song from geetha (kelade nimageega follows very tough and drastic interchanging musical notes) and this man does all of this in one song and effortlessly with the chorus yet again.

One primary reason we are all glued to his orchestration and find others work very plain and un-adorable is the fact that he embeds all of this ornamentation as a sound designer while writing his notation. He has been blessed with wonderful brain that imagines each and every aspect of the various sounding Instruments.

when it comes to pathos or melancholic songs he creates a lot of variations in his choice of Instruments and the way they are being played each time.

Guna, 1992 had very different sound designing that went hand in hand with his BGM and score
vetri Vizha , 1989 also has a very unique pattern that he uses to relate the Amnesia suffering of the protagonist and central character in the film.

HTNI- How to name it album is a classic example with several such sound designing of kaala pramanam between each notes being played by the violin and cellos.

In all we are a blessed lot of music listeners and let us enjoy this unlimited treasure from living genius.
