a hindi release can fetch 10 C in theatricals (assuming avg success .. VR grossed around 20C) and nearly 15-20C in satellite rights at minimal extra cost .. thats why he does it ..

rather than hearing from all vested hindi sources that kh movie didnt do well, i would rather prefer he dont concentrate much on hindi release.

'Uthama Villain' to release on Oct 2?

Kamalhaasan's 'Viswaroopam 2' has taken a back seat since he announced 'Uthama Villain'. The film is almost nearing its completion is being directed by Kannada star actor, Ramesh Aravind. The sources now say that the movie might have an audio launch by mid September and the makers Tirrupathi Brothers are aiming for Oct 2nd to release the movie in a resplendent manner.

Over the last 15 years Kamal has been following a formula in his story selection. After handling a serious subject he throws a light hearted commercial flick, owing to that Kamal has decided to put 'Uthama Villain' ahead of 'Viswaroopam 2'. The movie will have a Telugu release as well in the form of dubbing. The story is expected to revolve around the lifecycle of a Superstar in two different era and to throw some light inside the cine industry.

saga, for hindi VR1, dvd and TV premiere hasn't be released/telecasted as of yet? Is KH planning to sell VR1 and 2 as a package deal come release time? Still waiting for Hindi dvd release.

Hindi was only North India release. This didn't release outside by Balaji itself (they themselves have said that they were pleased with the profits from the Hindi version alone.) I hope KH gives Hindi rights to Eros (Hindi Kochadaiiyaan got a limited release in overseas but it got a web release on net 2 months later.)

As Anban said, right corporate guy can give version a better release. If it weren't for the stupid TN ban and DTH controversy, imagine the profits.

'விருமாண்டி' படத்தில் பேராசிரியர் ஞானசம்பந்தனை வைத்து மதுரைத் தமிழை முழங்க வைத்த கமல்ஹாசன், தற்போது 'உத்தம வில்லன்' படத்தில் செட்டி நாட்டுத் தமிழுக்காக, கவிஞர் அரு.நாகப்பனை அரிதாரம் பூசவைத்திருக்கிறார்.

கவியரசு கண்ணதாசனோடு இணைந்து 18 ஆண்டுகள் பணி செய்த வர் அரு.நாகப்பன். இலக்கிய வாதியான இவர், கவியரசு கண்ண தாசன் நற்பணி மன்றத்தின் பொதுச் செயலாளராக இருக்கிறார். 'உத்தம வில்லன்' படத்தின் முதல் கட்ட படப்பிடிப்பை முடித்து விட்டு காரைக்குடிக்கு திரும்பியுள்ளார்.

இந்தப் படத்துக்காக கமல் உங்களை எப்படி தேடிப் பிடித்தார் என்று அரு நாகப்பனிடம் கேட்டோம். "1975-ல் பரமக்குடியில் கம்பன் விழா நடந்தது. அதில் கமல்ஹாசனின் அப்பா சீனிவாச அய்யங்காரின் தலைமையில் நடந்த கருத்தரங்கில் பேசினேன். மறுநாள் அங்கே எனது தலைமையில் கவியரங்கம். பார்வையாளராக இருந்து ரசித்த சீனிவாச அய்யங்கார் என்னைக் கட்டித் தழுவிப் பாராட்டினார்.

அதன் பிறகு, ராமநாதபுரத்தில் காங்கிரஸ் நூற்றாண்டு விழாவுக்கு நிதி திரட்ட சிவாஜி கணேசனை சந்திப்பதற்காக ஒரு குழு புறப்பட்டது. அந்தக் குழுவில் சோ.பாலகிருஷ்ணன், கமலின் நெருங்கிய நண்பர் கோட்டைச் சாமி, நான், சீனிவாச அய்யங்கார் நான்கு பேரும் இருந்தோம். தேனாம்பேட்டையில் இருந்த கமலின் வீட்டுக்குத்தான் முதலில் சென்றோம். அதுதான் கமலுக்கும் எனக்குமான முதல் சந்திப்பு.

நான்கு மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு எம்.எஸ்.பாஸ்கர் எனக்கு போன் செய்தார். "கமல் சார் உத்தம வில்லன் படம் தொடர்பாக உங்க ளோடு ஒரு டிஸ்கஷன் வைத்திருக் கிறார், வரமுடியுமா?" என்று கேட்டார். எனக்கு இன்ப அதிர்ச்சி. கமலின் அலுவலகத்திற்கு நான் சென்றபோது சால்வை போட்டு வரவேற்றார். நான் எழுதிய 'போதையே போ போ!' என்ற நூலை அவருக்குக் கொடுத்தேன்.

'உத்தம வில்லன்' படத்தில் செட்டிநாட்டுத் தமிழும் விளையாடு கிறது. அது தொடர்பான வசனங் களை செழுமைப்படுத்தவே என்னை அழைத்திருந்தார் கமல். நான் பேசிய செட்டிநாட்டுத் தமிழை அங்கிருந்த அத்தனை பேரும் ரசித்தார்கள். "பேசாம அண்ணனை பெங்களூருவுக்கே கூட்டிட்டுப் போயிடலாமா சார்?" என்று கமலிடம் எம்.எஸ்.பாஸ்கர் கேட்டார். "அவுகளுக்குத்தான் வேசம் குடுத்தாச்சுல்ல"என்று கமல் சொன்னதும் அசந்து போனேன்.

"எனக்கு நடிப்பெல்லாம் வராது சார்.. கண்ணதாசனோடு இருந்த காலங்களிலேயே நான் நடிக்க ஆசைப்படல. 'துர்கா தேவி' படத்துல நடிக்க ராம.நாராயணன் கூப்பிட்டப்பவும் மறுத்துட்டேன்" என்றேன் . "கவிஞரே.. சின்ன ரோல் தான். யதார்த்தமா நடிங்க. மத்தத நாங்க பாத்துக்குறோம்" என்று கமல் சொன்னார். பெங்களூரில் பத்து நாள் ஷெட்யூலில் நான் நடித்ததைப் பார்த்து டைரக்டர் விஸ்வநாத், நடிகை ஊர்வசி எல்லாரும் பாராட்டினார்கள்" என்று நெகிழ்ந்து போய்க் கூறினார் அரு.நாகப்பன்.

We earlier reported about the troubles the Tamil version of Drishyam, that has Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in the lead, is caught in. However, the team continues to explore options for casting.

Reportedly, Sridevi is in talks to play the wife character played by Meena in original. And, the team has contacted Virumandi fame Abhirami to play the role of Asha Sarath (Police Inspector).

Sridevi is also going to be a part of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's next movie with director Chimbudevan, dubbed as 'Vijay 58'. Looks like Sridevi is all set for another round in the Tamil industry.
