What 2013 really needs is an "unfavorites" thread. I think I walked out of or stopped more movies in 2013 than in any previous year.
Ethir Neechal - I actually watched the whole thing, but only because it was raining when I entered the theater and I wanted to give it time to stop.
Varthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam - Left at intermission, only because the row we were sitting in was full of people. Even the teenager I was with whose treat the movie was supposed to be said, OK let's go.
Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara - Left after half an hour. People say the second half was better but I don't believe them.
Theeya Velai Seyyanum Kumaru - Stopped after half an hour to do something more entertaining, like cleaning the oven.
Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya - Stopped at around intermission. Later in the year, I walked into shooting for the next movie of one of the stars. I gave the crew my sympathies, which they accepted gracefully.
Kutti Puli - I actually watched the whole thing but with the one finger on the 2x speed button. The ending was disappointing, in that the bloodbath did not off more people.
Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal - The first segment was awful and painfully slow, the second was less bad but more Cheran, then we agreed that we would stop the movie rather than argue about who picked it in the first place.
Was that horrible Karunas movie with "Koyambedu Silkakka" this year?
The only 2013 release that I enjoyed was Soodhu Kavvum, but I think benefited from seeing it without hearing all the hype.
