Both movies should release with at least a 3 day gap. Otherwise, they would eat into each others' revenues and will pave way for average solo releases being projected as blockbusters. Diwali falls on a Wednesday IIRC and one movie can release the previous Friday.

ARM is managing expectations. Initial Thuppakki stills weren't that great either. I'll reserve judgement till I see a teaser at the very least. We all remember Thuppakki's teaser

It's official - Kaththi is a confirmed Diwali release
The producers of Kaththi, Lyca Productions, met the press today in Chennai and clarified all the issues surrounding them. They also reiterated that the movie would be a Diwali release for sure. The banner was represented at the meet by the Chairman of the group Mr. Subaskaran Allirajah, the Vice-Chairman Mr. Premananthan Sivasamy and producer Mr. K. Karunamoorthy
Mr. K. Karunamoorthy was hopeful of delivering more successful movies from their banner, with the best talent available in the industry, in the coming days too. He went on to clarify all the issues which are being circulated by alleged vested groups.
A press statement with a detailed clarification for 5 issues, follows.
The snapshots of the press statement can be found here.
