Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has urged the Prime Minister to direct the BCCI and ensure that Sri Lankan players and officials are not part of IPL 6 matches in her state.

Jayalalithaa made the demand in a letter to Manmohan Singh on Tuesday--a fallout of strong public opinion in Tamil Nadu over the alleged war crimes against Tamils by the Sri Lankan army during the civil war a few years ago in the island nation. As many as 10 IPL 6 matches are scheduled in Chennai, and 13 Sri Lankan players are taking part in the tournament. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have two Sri Lankan players in their squad for IPL 6.

Along with the Australians, the Sri Lankans a
re the biggest draw in the IPL. In fact, the Delhi Daredevils are captained by Lankan stalwart Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara is the prime candidate to captain the Hyderabad franchise, Sunrisers.

Earlier, the Asian Athletics Championship, to be held in Chennai from July 3-7, had to be cancelled Jayalalithaa refused to host the Sri Lankan athletes.
