Cool The Antiquity of Tamil Language

    Hi,

I want some authentic references to the antiquity of Tamil language. I have heard that Tamil is the oldest language of India. I would also like to know about the links between Tamil and the language of Indus valley.

Some scholars and many people claim that Sanskrit is the oldest language and mother of all languages. This claim is totally false as Sanskrit is a cultured language as its name suggests. The oldest inscriptions in India are in Prakrit and Tamil in Brahmi script, and not in Sanskrit. The first Sanskrit inscription was written in 150 A.D., many centuries after the Ashokan inscription in Prakrit. (Sanskrit Language Facts)
