    Writer Sujatha's works

    [html:64d1242b8a][/html:64d1242b8a]
    Hello everyone,

There is no doubt that Sujatha ( aka Rangarajan) is a modern writer with class who can write novels / katturais with a unique style/ twist. He is the only writer who can write believable science fictions, a genre that is so popular in English.

Can we discuss his works here?

    Scorpio,
My exposure to Sujatha's works has been thro' the 'Srirangathu Devathaigal-Part 2'&'katrathum ........'in Ananda Vikatan.let me also tell you that I am basically not a Tamilian but has learnt the language. Can you list out some important works of his for me to read?

PS:The 'Srirangathu.......'was excellent but I don't understand many words that he uses in the 'katrathum...'series.Guess i need to expand my Tamil vocabulary to understand them' Similarly does he use difficult words even in his novels&short stories?

    Cinefan,

You can try some excellently written novels by Sujatha like -Padavikkagha ( a pun at politicians very relevant even today), Kanavu thozhirchalai ( on Cine world and ego clashes), En eniya eyanthira and Meendum Geno ( both Sci-fi). Though Ganesh-Vasant are regular characters in Sujatha's novels, all these four are without them.

    Nilungal Rajavea....

    HI all,

Recently I have read "Nilungal Rajavea", novel by Sujatha, which is no way inferior to his standards. It's also sci-fic story and this has being considered as Tamil's first psychological thriller. Study it, you will enjoy each and every bit of it.

    Regards,
    S.Selvakkumar

Hi any fans of Sujatha's play 'Oonjal'.

In the preface he mentions that he wrote after getting affected reading Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. I heard Oonjal was also televised strring Poornam Visvanathan. It is an extremely poignant piece. The man's range (think the other end of the spectrum : gripping and eminently enjoyabl Ganesh-Vasnath thrillers to Kanayazghiyin Kadai Pakkam underc the name Srirangam S.R.). The guy is an absolute genius

    Hi Prabhu,

Yes, I've read the play -Oonjal. Somehow, Sujatha seems to be scripting dialogues with ease when he writes for characters who are tamil brahmins. The words he writes are so natural and realistic.

Did Oonjal come as a TV serial or a stage-play? Don't remember seeing it on TV.

I agree about Sujatha being a genius, sad, he is not into writing more novels now a days and concentrates on Tamil film screenplays and other essays.

    scorpio,
Did you read his recent 'Katradhum Petradhum'..('anamika' - a short story)? He hints at why he is not writing many stories these days..
