Thomas Newman's score or Scent of a woman
I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it.

RfaD theme. Dubb's remix is worth listening. Lux Aeterna's acoustic version is very good strumming. Watched it yesterday and re-watched the film today just for experiencing this piece. Stunning!

Sherlock Holmes scored by Hans Zimmer.

Terrific. Pity that Zimmer didn't win an Oscar for such an outstanding work. He lost to 'Up'.

Master of Suspense and his Maestro's of suspense

Today morning, as usual listening to my favorite FM station, where they featured one of the best movie score of all time, Vertigo, which reminded me of all Hitchcock's movies I enjoyed and the scores. Just thought of compiling a few which are my very special to me.

Vertigo (1958) - Theme - Bernard Herrmann (chilling score!). Bernard - Amazing composer and genius.

Rebecca (my top favorite of all Hitchcock movies) starring Lawrence Olivier, Joan Fontaine & Judith Anderson. Especially the lady villain Judith, what a performance! First time I watched this movie on my trip to India in 2006. After I came back here, I watched this movie several times, still this movie has not faded even an inch (imagine this film was done 70 years before). Such is this classic!
Listen to this breathtaking score from Franz Waxman. Can we forget his score for Sunset Boulevard (1950)?
    Rebecca (1940) - Theme - Franz Waxman
    Stunning score!

    Rebecca (1940) - Title - Franz Waxman

Psycho (1960) - Main theme - Bernard Herrmann (Bernard Again, this time too scary!)

North by Northwest (1959) - Titles - Bernard Herrmann (this time totally freaked out)

The Birds (1963) - Chris Frost (Another great movie by the Master, and grand score by Chris)

Spellbound(1945) - Miklos Rozsa (pioneer of film music) Who can forget his score for BenHur (1959)?
    (A haunting score!)

Maestro's of suspense (summary, interesting video)

    Truly great composers!

Finally all the credit goes to Master of suspense Mr. Alfred Hitchcock, talented genius, who demands music in its very detailed form for every emotion! Unfortunately, he was not awarded by the Academy (inspite of Rebecca getting Best Picture in 1940) not even once, what a shame!

kid, thanks for bringing up The Conversation, FFC masterpiece . One of my all time favorite films and IMO, probably FFC's best, second only to Apocalypse Now. Genius

He made a lot of duds later. It's tough to beat him in 70's, with The Conversation, Apocalypse now, TG I , TG II.
