    Srilankan Popisai is Baila-style songs, but sung in Tamil. Baila, if you haven't heard of it, is a mix of Portuguese and Sinhalese music with some African influence. Radio Ceylon made it very popular in Tamil Nadu, but I don't think it's sung very much anymore.
