We the Tamils are known to be soft. We grow up listening to "Adakkam AmararuL Uikkum". In early 20th Century Leaders felt the need to shed the soft image. Mahakavi Bharathiyar said "Rowthiram Pazhagu". Thanthai Periyar felt the need to instill self respect and started the Suya Mariyadhai Iyakkam. Kalaivanar NSK tried to instill the pride of Tamilnadu through his songs. During 50s and 60s there was MR Radha the dare devil, not sparing any thing or anybody. But since he identified himself to an ideology, his performance was seen more as propaganda. Years rolled on. During Mid 80s and 90s one man single handedly brought out the ARROGANCE in Tamils. The credit goes to that lean, dark, bald, middle aged man. He did not set out to convey any message, or do any service he stuck to entertainment but done in his original, natural way. He is Koundamani.
