Was having a general chat with Mr.Raghavendar with NT and his films always being the core issue, this discussion veered round to the film "Oorum Uravum" and suddenly we felt that this film had more meaning in the present day context.
OU (Deepavali 1982) dealt about two brothers. NT as the farmer based in the village going all out to make his younger brother (Shawdows Ravi) a Doctor so that his village is benefitted. Ravi once in Chennai and after getting the degree loses track and decides to settle down in the city instead of going back to the village to serve the people. The later part of the movie dealt with how NT coming to the city now(becoming a rikshaw walah) reforms his younger brother and takes him back to the village.
Think about it and you find a similarity (if not the exact) with the burning issue of today, the protest by Medicos against the clause of serving the villages with an extended year of study. Well NT and his movie seems to be ahead of their times by 25 years.
Regards
PS: To all, I am neither pro-medicos nor anti- medicos and this post has been done only to highlight whatever similarity the film reflects of a situation which is applicable even after 25 years.
