Was re-reading yet again when I chanced upon the line : “Assume a virtue if you have it not” . As you would recall it is said by Hamlet to his mother ,the whole line reads: " Go not to my uncle's bed. Assume a virtue if you have it not"
I read an RD joke once from a schoolteacher who taught Hamlet. She gave a fill-in-the-blanks question:
" Go not to my uncle's bed. Assume a ________ if you have it not"
