dear Gopu. One of the evergreen song sequences in Tamil Cinema. Jai Shankar made his refreshing entry at the appropriate time when the 'James Bond fever' was at its peak thanks to Sean Connery/Bond movies DrNo, From Russis with Love, Gold Finger and Thunderball from 1962 to 1965 in succession. Jai Shankar's body shape, the typical Bond tuxedo, Stylish Gun handling and his mannerisms were almost replicating Connery and this film Vallavan Oruvan had sown the seeds for him to be hailed as the 'James Bond of South' with many more Spy genre movies of him to follow. For a desi version of Bond, Jai was a hand in glove fit. His Bondian movements in this song sequence is a typical example of how he anchored his Bond image (surpassing Sivaji or MGR or Ravichandran and the likes even as they were also trying to enact Bond type roles) in the minds of Tamil rasigargal. Rajkumar in Karnataka with his CID999 series and Krishna in Telugu were his counterparts as their movies too got dubbed in tamil at that time.
Thanks Gopu for this song and as a bonus the pudhiya paraai song 'paartha gyapagam illayo' in your package
