Forgot to mention this, this may not be news to you, HR & MJ, but my family was never a Captain fan. Except dad, more of, "oh never mind, it's not that bad" kinda fondness. But over the weekend, when talking about "evanevano nadikka vanthutaan", my mom confessed that she liked revisiting Captain's films. In fact, she said, some of the recent ones she saw were, however bad they are, are quite enjoyable. Interesting eh? Attached is pix I found in FB, not sure you saw it already.

Today I was watching a programme(Ms&Mr. Galatta) in Captain TV hosted by Badava Gopi. It is a programme in which film celebrities are interviewed. Something like "Coffee With Anu". This weeks guest was comedian M.S.Baskar. Towards the end of the show, he made a tune thru' whistle.விசில் சத்தத்தாலயே ஒரு பாட்டு இசைத்தார்!
There was a round of applause from among those who gathered there.
After that he said an interesting information. Amongst whistling techniques, there is one where you bend your tongue and whistle. This is the one which you try to do in Cinema. It seems our Captain can sing a song thru' that kind of whistling. He was quoted saying "எங்க அண்ணன் நாக்க மடிச்சி இப்படி whistleல tune போடுவார்... பிரமாதமா செய்வார்".

Speaking about camera angles..the movie that really made me wonderstruck was VANCHINATHAN..the first of its kind in kollywood w.r.t its camera angles. Love the dialogues in that movie too!

Music composer Gangai Amaran has denied reports appeared in a section of the media that he called on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapkse recently and promised to produce a film on Lankan Tamils on behalf of the island government.

Today I watched Payanam @ Devi Paradise.
Excellent film. I should emphasize on one short scene where reporters would be reporting from Tirupathi airport. As their locals would speak Telugu...a telugu reporters commentary would be OVERLAYED by a Tamizh voice(the familiar voice used for Bear Grylls of Man vs. Wild fame). I would proudly proclaim that Captain was the trend-setter in this area. This idea was successfully suggested by Captain in viruthagiri.
Another noteworthy point.. there is a character in the movie named "Shining STAR Chandrakanth". He is used by the director to poke fun of rajini,vijayakanth,arjun and surya.So people planning to watch the movie are advised to take it in a lighter sense.

Truthfully, it was directed more towards Captain and Arjun..YES.

at surya sir, in the part where someone(chams?) speaks about actress Anushka. "avanagala heroine ah podathinga..aprum stool potu thaan hero paysanum"

at rajini sir, the scene where chams says pritivi "... neenga amaithiya iruntha avangaluku nayrum sari illanu artham...". Moreover the name of the film star "Shining STAR chandraKANTH"

at vijay sir, yes..but I dont remember the dialogue.

at Balakrishna(telugu actor), a dialogue which goes like "antha padathula bulleta vayalaye kadichu thupiningalay..."

at Captain and Arjun, "terrorist" kinda dialogues.

However, towards the end of the movie, Shining Star Chandrakanth becomes a real hero.

Interestingly, the person who deserves to be poked fun is NAGARJUNA himself. those who would
have seen his telugu movies would accept this statement.

This type of "making fun" is not new to Radhamohan. He repeats this in almost all his movies(sample VELLITHIRAI).

what inspiration it is a remake. and a poor one @that.
nooraavadhu naal is an inspiration from Eyes of Laura Mars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyes_of_Laura_Mars) and a pretty good one at that.
The hindi remake made awful lot of compromises for the image of Jackie shroff and the only good thing in that movie was a decent performance by Madhuri Dixit.

nooraavadhu naaL on the other hand, elevated the inspiration by its choice of antagonist and offcourse the awesome Sathyaraj and the awesomer BG score by Raaja!! Vijay Kanth as the brother and the final climactic fight were simply too good.
Of course the real credit for the movie must go to the under appreciated Mohan who accepted a "not so hero" role and played it with sincerity. Nalini as the distraught housewife too did her part perfectly.

Now I would like to link this news to something else. Director Lingusamy, who has achieved this position in kollywood, was quoted saying during Viruthagiri audio launch that his elder brother is a fan of Captain and has always keeps telling him to make a movie with Captain. :)

I remember watching an old early 80's Captain movie in DD in which a flight gets hijacked by a group who take it to a remote island. Im not sure about the story. The title is 'Nalai Unadhu Naal' & I believe Sathyaraj and Jaishankar also acted in it.

Yeah, (A.K.A "Ten Little Indians" A.K.A "Ten Little Niggers"). I think it was earlier made in Tamil by Veenai Balachander in the 60s. I have also seen at least 2 movies based on this classic in English. Aana not one of them is as good as the novel.

ரிஷிவந்தியம் சட்டசபை தொகுதிக்குட்பட்ட பகுதியில், ஆர்ப்பாட்டம், ஆரவாரமின்றி, 24 ஆயிரத்து 512 ஓட்டுகளைப் பெற்றார். இதன் மூலம், ரிஷிவந்தியம் தே.மு.தி.க.,விற்கு செல்வாக்கு உள்ள தொகுதியாக விஜயகாந்த் கணித்து வைத்திருந்தார். எனினும், உளுந்தூர்பேட்டை தொகுதியில் போட்டியிடவே விஜயகாந்த் விரும்பினார். அ.தி.மு.க.,வுடன் ஏற்பட்ட தொகுதி பங்கீட்டில் ஏற்பட்ட சிக்கல் காரணமாக, திருக்கோவிலூர், ரிஷிவந்தியம் தொகுதிகளே தே.மு.தி.க.,விற்கு ஒதுக்கப்பட்டது. இவை இரண்டில், ரிஷிவந்தியத்தை விஜயகாந்த் தேர்வு செய்தார். அதற்குக் காரணம், நான்கு முறை வெற்றி பெற்ற காங்., எம்.எல்.ஏ., சிவராஜ், தொகுதிக்காக எதுவும் செய்யவில்லை என்ற எதிர்ப்பு அலையும், சிவராஜ், மற்றும் கள்ளக்குறிச்சி காங்., எம்.பி., ஆதிசங்கர் இடையே நீடித்து வரும் நீண்ட கால பகையும் தான்.

DMK men stop screening of Vijayakanth movie


MADURAI: It was suave James Bond (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/James-Bond) versus do-gooder Captain in a small southern town in Tamil Nadu. However, with the election commission keeping a close watch on the poll arena, Vijayakanth (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/search?q=Vijayakanth) lost out to the fictional British agent.

Tension gripped Uthamapalayam in Theni district after a theatre in the small town stopped the screening of 'Viruthagiri', DMDK leader Vijayakanth's latest Tamil film, after protests by DMK cadre and replaced it with the James Bond flick 'Quantum of Solace', starring Daniel Craig (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Daniel-Craig), for the matinee show on Friday.

Irked by the move, Vijayakanth's supporters gathered in front of the theatre and demanded that the English film be stopped right away and 'Viruthagiri' be screened again. Caught between the warring cadres, the vexed owners of Santosh theatre hurriedly pulled down the shutters and said there would be no screening of films for the next few days.

Trouble began when DMK functionaries, owing allegiance to Madurai strongman M K Alagiri, alerted the district collector about the Vijayakanth film being screened in the theatre and insisted that it was a violation of the model code of conduct. It was apparently Alagiri, on a tour of Cumbum on Friday for the poll campaign, who first noticed the posters of 'Viruthagiri' plastered on building walls.

District collector A Karthik told TOI that posters with political party affiliations were a violation of the model code of conduct and the posters had been removed. "But the screening of the film is not a violation," he said.
Unhappy with the collector's action, DMK partymen, led by a senior functionary, entered the cinema hall in the heart of Uthamapalayam town and demanded that the screening of the film be stopped right away. Not wanting any trouble, the theatre owner switched to the James Bond movie.

Immediately, a group of about 100 DMDK men entered the theatre and demanded that their leader's movie be screened again. "It is not a violation and why can't people be given the chance of seeing a good movie?" Thangam, a DMDK worker, asked.

But in the end, neither Captain nor James Bond got the chance to thrill the rural audience after the theatre owners hastily closed shop.

விஜயகாந்த் பற்றி சுவையான சிறு குறிப்புகள்

விஜயகாந்த்தின் நிஜப் பெயர் நாராயணன். அது தாத்தாவின் பெயர் என்பதால், விஜயராஜ் என வீட்டில் அழைக்கிறார்கள். சினிமாவுக்கு வந்த பின் டைரக்டர் எம்.ஏ.காஜா வைத்த பெயர் விஜயகாந்த். பின், அடுத்த படத்திலேயே டைரக்டர் விஜயன் அதை அமிர்தராஜ் என மாற்றியும் நிலைத்தது விஜயகாந்த்தான் !

வீட்டுப் பூஜை அறையில் மெக்கா மதீனா படங்களும்,இயேசு- மேரி மாதா படங்களும், திருப்பதி வெங்கடாசலபதியும்,முருகனும்,பிள்ளையாரும் சிறப்பிடம் பெறுகிறார்கள். இப்பவும் மனசு சரி இல்லை என்றால், கண்ணூர் தர்காவுக்குப் போய் வழிபாடு செய்வார் விஜயகாந்த்!

நடிகர் ராஜேஷின் தம்பி திருமணத்தில்தான் எம்.ஜி.ஆரோடு கைகுலுக்கிச் சந்தித்துப் பேசினார் விஜயகாந்த். அதை ஒருவரும் புகைப்படம் எடுக்கவில்லையே என்ற ஆறாத வருத்தம் விஜயகாந்த்துக்கு உண்டு !

‘செந்தூரப் பாண்டி’யில் விஜய்யோடு நடித்து, ‘பெரியண்ணா படத்தில் சூர்யாவோடு நடித்து அவர்களை பி அண்ட் சி-க்கு கொண்டு சேர்த்த பெருமை விஜயகாந்த்க்கு உண்டு. இதை விஜய்யே ஒரு விழா வில் ஒப்புக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறார் !

முதலில் வாங்கிய டி.எம்.எம். 2 நம்பர் அம்பாஸடர் காரை இன்னும் பாதுகாப்பாக வைத்திருக்கிறார் விஜயாகாந்த். இன்றைக்கும் அதை ஆபீஸுக்கு எடுத்து வருவது உண்டு !


சினிமாவுக்கு வர வேண்டும் என்ற ஆசை அத்துமீறிவிட்டதால் விஜயகாந்த் எஸ்.எஸ்.எல்.சி – யைத் தாண்டவில்லை. ஆனால், வீட்டு வேலைக்காரர்களின் பிள்ளைகளை இன்ஜினீயரிங் வரைக்கும் படிக்கவைக்க உதவி செய்கிறார் !

ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை கேப்டன் வீட்டில் 100பேராவது சாப்பிடுவார்கள். ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் அலுவலுகத்திலும் அந்த அளவுக்குச் சாப்பாடு நடக்கும். வந்து செல்கிறவர்களை வெறும் வயிறோடு திரும்ப அனுமதிக்க மாட்டார் விஜயகாந்த் !
விஜயகாந்த்தின் குலதெய்வம் வீரசின்னம்மா. மதுரைக்குப் பக்கத்தில் திருமங்கலம் அருகில் இருக்கிறது. பாழடைந்து கிடந்த கோயிலை சுற்றுச்சுவர் எழுப்பி, கும்பாபிஷேகம் நடத்தி புதுபிக்க உதவியிருக்கிறார்!
ஆகஸ்ட் 25 அன்று விஜயகாந்த்துக்கு பிறந்த நாள் பரிசாக ஆடி க்யூ 7 என்ற 45 லட்சம் மதிப்பு உள்ள காரை ஆண்டாள் அழகர் கல்லூரியின் சார்பாக வழங்கி இருக்கிறார் மைத்துனர் சுதிஷ் !

We all know that Captain has acted in 17 movies in the year 1985 and we were thinking that this was a record break so far, interestingly I came to know recently that there is another person Actor Prem Nazir of "black and white days" who has created a mindblowing record.

சட்டசபை தேர்தலில் திமுக தோல்வி அடைந்ததைத் தொடர்ந்து நடிகர் வடிவேலு அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்துள்ளார். அடுத்து என்ன செய்வதென்று தெரியாமல் விழித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் வடிவேலு வீட்டில் கல் வீசப்பட்டது. இதையடுத்து அவரது வீட்டுக்கு போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பு போடப்பட்டுள்ளது. சட்டசபை தேர்தல் பிரசாரத்தில் திமுக கூட்டணிக்கு ஆதரவாக பிரசாரத்தில் ஈடுபட்ட வடிவேலு, தேமுதிக தலைவர் விஜயகாந்தை குடிகாரன் என்று பேசி கடுமையாக தாக்கினார். வடிவேலுவின் காமெடியான பேச்சை கேட்க ஆயிரக்கணக்கான ரசிகர்கள் திரண்டனர். வந்தவர்கள் எல்லாம் திமுக கூட்டணிக்குத்தான் ஓட்டு போடுவார்கள் என்று நினைத்த வடிவேலு, தனது பேச்சில் மேலும் மேலும் கேவலமான வார்த்தைகளை பயன்படுத்தத் தொடங்கினார். தேர்தல் பிரசாரத்தை முடித்த பின்னர் அளித்த பேட்டியில் கூட, செல்லும் இடங்களில் எல்லாம் மக்கள் வரவேற்பு அதிக அளவில் இருந்ததாகவும், திமுக மாபெரும் வெற்றி பெறும் என்றும் கூறினார்.

இப்போது திமுக அதிர்ச்சி தோல்வியை சந்தித்துள்ளது. இது யாரை பாதிக்கிறதோ இல்லையோ... வடிவேலுவை நிச்சயம் பாதிக்கும் என்கிறார்கள் கோடம்பாக்கத்து முக்கிய புள்ளிகள். சக நடிகர் என்று கூட பாராமல் ஏக வசனத்தில் பேசி விஜயகாந்தை விமர்சித்ததால் சில சினிமா வாய்ப்புகளை இழந்திருக்கும் வடிவேலுவின் கதி இனி என்னவாக இருக்கும்? என்ற கேள்விக்குறி எழுந்துள்ளது. *அதிமுக ஆட்சியை பிடிக்கும் நிலைமையை நெருங்கியதுமே, சென்னை சாலிகிராமத்தில் உள்ள வடிவேலு வீடு முன் கல் மற்றும் உருட்டுக்கட்டைகளுடன் திரண்ட தேமுதிகவினர் கற்களை வீசி தாக்குதல் நடத்தினர். இதையடுத்து அங்கு போலீசார் விரைந்து வந்து பாதுகாப்பு பணியில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்.

தேர்தல் முடிவைத் தொடர்ந்து வடிவேலுவின் அடுத்த ஸ்டெப் என்னவாக இருக்கும்? என்ற *கேள்வி எழுந்துள்ள நிலையில் இருவேறு விதமாக பேசப்பட்டு வருகிறது. ஒன்று போயஸ் கார்டன் சென்று சமாதானம் ஆவது; இன்னொன்று திமுகவிலேயே ஐக்கியமாவது. இந்த இரண்டில் ஒரு முடிவைத்தான் வடிவேலு எடுக்கக் கூடும் என கோடம்பாக்கத்தில் பேச்சு எழுந்துள்ளது.

Vijayakanth not to quit acting

We have good news for those die-hard fans of Captain films, who are in a state of confusion whether Vijayakanth would act or not in future, as he is all set to become the Opposition Leader of Tamil Nadu Assembly.
When a section of his well-wishers from the tinsel town met the DMDK president recently to convey their wishes for his party’s good show in the polls, they too posed the same question to the Captain.
Vijayakanth’s reply to them, according to sources, was, “Acting is my passion and profession. In fact, it is cinema which took me to the people. I will continue to act and at the same without any compromise to public work.”
The Captain’s last film was ‘Virudhagiri’ which was directed by him as well, besides playing the lead role. Meanwhile, attempts are on in a full swing to start a round-the-clock news channel from Captain TV stable.

சினிமாவில் அவனுக்கு வாழ்க்கை கொடுத்தவர் ராஜ்கிரண். அந்தப் பாவத்துக்காக அவர் பக்கத்துல இருந்தவங்களை எல்லாம் தன்கிட்டே இழுத்து வெச்சுக்கிட்டான். கஷ்டப்படுற ராஜ்கிரணுக்கு கார் வாங்கிக் கொடுத்தேன்னு தப்பா ஒரு சேதியைக் கிளப்பிவிட்டு, தன்னை ஒரு வள்ளலா காட்டிக்கிட்டான். விஷயத்தைக் கேள்விப்பட்டு ராஜ்கிரணே நொந்துபோய்ட்டார். இது மாதிரி அறிமுகம் செஞ்சவரையே அசிங்கம் செஞ்சவன்தான் வடிவேலு.

ஆர்.வி.உதயகுமாரோட 'சின்னக் கவுண்டர்’ படத்துல நானும், கவுண்டமணி அண்ணனும் நடிச்​சோம். எங்ககூட வடிவேலுவும் நடிச்சான். ஷூட்டிங்கில் விஜயகாந்த் எங்களைவிட வடிவேலுவைத்​தான் விழுந்து, விழுந்து கவனிப்பார். அவனை எப்பவும் தன் கூடவே வெச்சுக்குவார். அவர் சாப்பிடுற ஐயிட்டங்களையே அவனுக்கும் பரிமாறச் சொல்லுவார். அந்தப் படத்துல வடிவேலு நிறைய ஸீன்ல நடிக்கறதுக்கு டைரக்டர்கிட்டே சிபாரிசுகூட பண்ணினார் விஜயகாந்த். 'என்னண்ணே இப்படிச் செய்றீங்களே?’ன்னு நான் விஜயகாந்த்கிட்ட கேட்டேன். 'அண்ணே, நீங்க ராமநாதபுரத்து ஆளு. வடிவேலு என் ஊர்க்காரன். என்னோட ஆளு. நீங்க வேணா பாருங்க.. அவன் பெரிய்ய ஆளா வருவான்’னு விஜயகாந்த் என்கிட்ட சொன்னார். அப்படி அவர் வளர்த்த கடா வடிவேலு, இப்போ அவர் மார்பிலேயே பாயுது. அவன், அவரை அசிங்க அசிங்கமாத் திட்டுறான்.

தருமபுரியில் தே.மு.தி.க. வேட்பாளரை ஆதரிச்சுப் பேசியிருக்கார் விஜயகாந்த். அப்போ, வேனுக்குள்ளே மைக் விழுந்துடுச்சு. உதவியாளரிடம் குனிஞ்சு எடுக்கச் சொல்லி இருக்கார். அந்தச் சம்பவத்தை கேமரா ட்ரிக் மூலமா வேட்பாளரை அடிச்ச மாதிரி தப்பாப் பிரசாரம் பண்றாங்க. கருணாநிதியைக் கைது செஞ்சப்போ, பரிதாபமாக் கத்துற மாதிரி டப்பிங் வாய்ஸ் கொடுத்தவங்கதானே இந்த தி.மு.க-காரங்க.

இன்னோர் கூட்டத்தில் விஜயகாந்த் பேசும்போது,​ 'அ.தி.மு.க. கொடியைக் கீழே இறக்கச் சொல்லித் திட்டின மாதிரி’ கருணாநிதி டி.வி-யில் காட்டுறாங்க. அ.தி.மு.க., தே.மு.தி.க. கட்சியோடு கொடிகளுக்கு மத்தியில் திடீர்னு ஒருத்தன் தி.மு.க. கொடியைத் தூக்கிக் காட்டுனான். அதைப் பார்த்துக் கடுப்பான விஜயகாந்த், தி.மு.க. கொடியைக் கிழே இறக்கச் சொல்லித் திட்டினார். டப்புன்னு கேமராவை அ.தி.மு.க. பக்கம் மாத்திக் காட்டி கூட்டணிக்குள்ளே குழப்பத்தை ஏற்படுத்துறாங்க.

சென்னையில் அம்மா பேசுன கூட்டத்துல ஜனங்க நெரிசலில் மாட்டுனதா காட்டுறாங்க. மக்கள் கூட்டத்தைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த வேண்டிய காவல்துறை, அந்தக் காட்சியைக் கை கட்டி வேடிக்கைதானே பார்த்தது? உண்மையிலே, தோல்வி பயத்தில், தி.மு.க-வோடு அந்தக் கட்சியின் சேனல்களும் திட்டம் போட்டு ஏற்பாடு செய்த தள்ளுமுள்ளு வேலைதான் அது...'' என்றவர் அடுத்து குஷ்பு விஷயத்துக்குத் தாவினார்.

*************கேப்டன் விஜயகாந்த் திருமணத்தில் ஒரு அனுபவம் PART 1********

காவல்துறையினரைப் பார்க்கின்றபோது அவர்கள் சீருடையைவிட அவர்கள் கையில் வைத்திருக்கும் லத்திதான் பொதுமக்களுக்கு பயத்தைத் தரும்.

‘ஒரு தடவை அதுல அடி வாங்கிப் பாரு.. அதோட மகிமை தெரியும்..!’ என்ற வார்த்தையைப் பயன்படுத்திருக்காத கட்சித் தொண்டர்களும், இளைஞர் இயக்கத்து தோழர்களும் இந்தியத் திருநாட்டில் இருக்க முடியாது.

பதிவர்களில் எத்தனை பேருக்கு அந்த அனுபவம் கிட்டியதோ எனக்குத் தெரியாது.. ஆனால் எனக்கு நிறைய உண்டு. அதில் மறக்க முடியாதது முதல் அனுபவம்தான்.. எங்கே என்பதுதான் கொஞ்சம் வேடிக்கையான, வேதனையான விஷயம்..

நான் மதுரையில் சில ஆண்டுகாலம் எந்த வேலை, வெட்டிக்கும் போகாமல் ஊர் சுற்றிக் கொண்டு நிம்மதியாக ராஜா மாதிரி இருந்த நேரம் அது.

மதுரை மண்ணின் மைந்தன் விஜயகாந்தின் திருமணம் மதுரை ராஜா முத்தையா மன்றத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. இந்தத் திருமணம் பற்றியச் செய்திகள் அனைத்தும் திருமணத்திற்கு முன்பே அப்போதைய பல பத்திரிகைகளில் வாராவாரம் வெளி வந்தபடியே இருந்ததால் மதுரையே ஏக பரபரப்பில் இருந்தது.

விஜயகாந்தின் வளர்ச்சியில் பெரும் பங்கு சில பத்திரிகைகளுக்குத்தான் உண்டு. அதிலும் ஆதித்தனார் குடும்பப் பத்திரிகைகள் விஜயகாந்திற்குத்தான் முக்கியத்துவம் அளித்து வந்தார்கள். திரு.சிவந்திஆதித்தனின் 'ராணி', மற்றும் திரு.ராமச்சந்திரஆதித்தனின் 'தேவி' பத்திரிகையிலும் விஜயகாந்த் பற்றிய செய்தி வராத இதழ்களே இருக்க முடியாது.

இந்த இரண்டு இதழ்களுமே விஜயகாந்த் திருமணத்திற்கு முன்பாகவே திருமதி பிரேமலதாவின் புகைப்படத்தை பிரசுரித்து அமர்க்களம் செய்திருந்தன. பத்திரிகை செய்திகளின் தூண்டுதலில் நானும் அந்தத் திருவிழாவைக் காண ஆவலோடு காத்திருந்தேன்.

இரண்டு நாட்களுக்கு முன்பாகவே மதுரை நகரமே தட்டிகளால் அல்லலோகப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தது. சுவரொட்டிகளாலும், சின்னச் சின்னத் தோரணங்களாலும் களை கட்டியிருந்தது மதுரை. தல்லாகுளம் பகுதி முழுவதும் விஜயகாந்தின் திருமண வாழ்த்து சுவரொட்டிகளைத் தாங்காத சுவர்களே கிடையாது. மேலமாசிவீதியில் உள்ள விஜயகாந்தின் அக்கா வீட்டிலிருந்து, மண்டபம் வரையிலானதூரம் வரையிலும் கட்சிக் கொடி போல் மன்றத்துக் கொடிகள் பறந்து கொண்டிருந்தன. மதுரை ஏக திகைப்பில் இருந்தது.

1990 ஜனவரி 30 இரவு 'தங்கரீகல்' தியேட்டரில் படம் பார்த்துவிட்டு 'தங்கம்' தியேட்டர் வழியாக வீடு திரும்பியபோது 'சுப்ரீம் ஹோட்டல்' வாசலில் ஏகமான கூட்டம்.. திருமணத்திற்கு முன்பும், திருமணம் முடிந்த பின்பும் விஜயகாந்த் இந்த ஹோட்டலில்தான் தங்கியிருந்தார். அண்ணனைப் பார்க்க அப்போதே அவரது ரசிகர்கள் திரண்டு நின்று கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். கூடியிருந்த கூட்டத்தைப் பார்த்து அப்போதே முடிவு செய்துவிட்டேன், நாளைக்கு முதல் வேலை அண்ணன் கல்யாணத்துக்கு போறதுதான்னு..! (அழைப்பிதழ் வந்துச்சான்னு சின்னப்புள்ளத்தனமா கொஸ்டீன் கேக்கக்கூடாது..!)

மறுநாள் ஜனவரி 31. விடிந்ததும், விடியாததுமாக அவசர, அவசரமாகக் கிளம்பி எனது சைக்கிளில் ராஜாமுத்தையா மன்றத்திற்கு வந்தால், ஒரு அரசியல் கட்சி மாநாடு நடப்பது போல் ரசிகர்களின் கூட்டம்.
வெயில் கொளுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்தது. மொட்டை வெயில் என்றே சொல்லலாம்.. மூன்று புற வாசல்களுமே மூடப்பட்டு போலீஸ், ரசிகர் மன்றப் பொறுப்பாளர்கள் என்ற பாதுகாப்பில் இருந்தது மண்டபம். ரசிகர் மன்றத்தினர் அனைவரும் போட்டி போட்டுக் கொண்டு வாழ்த்து தட்டிகளை வைத்திருந்ததால் மண்டபமே மறைக்கப்பட்டிருந்ததுபோல் தெரிந்தது. மண்டபத்தின் வெளியே இருந்த பெட்டிக் கடைகளின் மேலேகூட ரசிகர்கள் ஏறி நின்று எட்டிப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். அருகில் இருந்த மரங்களிலும் ரசிகர்கள் கூட்டம் தொற்றிக் கொண்டிருந்தது.

சில ரசிகர்கள் மெயின்கேட்டின் மீது ஏறி நின்று உள்ளே இறங்க முயல.. போலீஸார் அவர்களை அடிக்கப் போவதைப் போல் பாவ்லா காட்ட, அவர்கள் பட்டென்று வெளிப்பக்கமாக காலை போட்டுக் கொள்ள என்று விளையாட்டுக் காட்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

மண்டபத்தைச் சுற்றிலும் இருந்த இரும்புக் கிராதிகளின் மேலேயும் ரசிகர்கள் ஏறி நின்று கொண்டு எங்காவது கிடைக்கின்ற நேரத்தில் தலைவனின் முகம் தெரியாதா என்று பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். மண்டபத்தின் வலது பக்கமிருந்தும், இடது பக்கமிருந்தும் பார்த்தால் மண்டபத்தின் உள் நுழையும் கதவுகள் தெரியும். அந்தக் கதவுகள் நி்மிடத்துக்கொரு முறை திறக்கப்பட்டுக் கொணடிருக்க, அந்த ஒரு நொடி தரிசனத்தையே ஐயப்ப தரிசனம்போல் ரசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள் ரசிகர்கள்..
அரங்கத்தின் வலது புறமாக இருந்த ரோட்டோரத்தில் நின்றுதான் பார்க்கவும், கேட்கவும் முடிந்தது.. இங்கேதான் கூட்டம் கொஞ்சம் குறைவாக இருந்தது.

கலைஞர் தலைமையில் திருமணம். கலைஞர் 13 வருட கால வனவாசத்திற்குப் பிறகு ஆட்சிப் பொறுப்பிற்கு வந்திருந்த நேரம். திருமணத்திற்கு வந்திருந்தவர்கள் கலைஞர், விஜயகாந்தின் மனம் கவர்ந்த தலைவர் மூப்பனார், இளையராஜா, சந்திரசேகர், பாண்டியன், தியாகு, தாணு, இராம.நாராயணன் என்று எனக்கு நினைவில் இருக்கிறவரைக்கும் தெரிகிறது.

இதனாலேயே விஜயகாந்த் ரசிகர்களைவிடவும், தி.மு.க. கரைவேட்டிகளின் எண்ணிக்கையும், காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியினரின் எண்ணிக்கையும் அந்த இடத்தில் அதிகமாக இருந்தது.
உள்ளே மைக்கில் பேசுவது வெளியில் கேட்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக மண்டபத்தின் மூன்று பக்கமும் ஸ்பீக்கரை கட்டித் தொங்க விட்டிருந்தார்கள்.

உள்ளே பேசியவர்களெல்லாம் 'புரட்சிக்கலைஞர்' என்றும் 'விஜயகாந்த்' என்றும் சொல்லும்போதெல்லாம் உள்ளே இருந்து எழுந்த கைதட்டலைவிட, மண்டபத்தைச் சுற்றி அந்த வேகாத வெயிலில் காத்திருந்த ரசிகர் பெருமக்கள் எழுப்பிய கரகோஷம்தான் அதிகம்.

உள்ளே இசை வாத்தியங்களின் மங்கள இசையில் மாலை மாற்றுதலும், தாலி கட்டுதலும் நடக்க.. சட்டென்று வெளியே வந்த ஒருவர் ரசிகர்களைப் பார்த்து கைதட்டல் எழுப்பும்படி சைகை செய்ய.. அதற்காகவே காத்திருந்ததைப் போல ரசிகர்கள் எழுப்பிய விசில் சப்தமும், கைதட்டலும் அந்தப் பகுதியை அலற வைத்தது. வித்தியாசமான அனுபவம்யா இது..!

போலீஸார்தான் பாவம்.. ஒரு பக்கம் ரசிகர்களின் கண்ணாமூச்சி விளையாட்டு. மறுபக்கம் கட்சிக்காரர்களின் நொச்சு. இரண்டையும் சமாளித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

கலைஞர் பேசியது எனக்கு சுத்தமாக நினைவில்லை. ஆனால் இளையராஜா பேசியதில் ஒன்றே ஒன்றுதான்(சப்ஜெக்ட் அப்படி) எனக்கு பளிச்சென்று இன்றும் நினைவுக்கு வருகிறது.

"இனிமேல் விஜயகாந்த், 'விரிச்சு வைச்ச பாயும், எடுத்து வைச்ச பாலும் வீணாகத்தான் போகுது.. அந்த வெள்ளி நிலாக் காயுது..' என்று பாட முடியாது என்று நினைக்கிறேன்.." என்றார். இது எப்படி இருக்கு..? மறக்கவா முடியும்..!

கல்யாணம் செய்துவைத்துவிட்டு கலைஞரும், மற்றவர்களும் வெளியேறிய பின்பு, ஒரு பெரும்கூட்டமே திமுதிமுவென்று கேட்டின் மீது ஏறி உள்ளே குதித்து ஓடியது. அதுவரையில் அவர்களை அடக்கியிருந்ததே பெரிய விஷயம்.. நானும் சைக்கிளை ஓரமாக கூட்டத்தோடு கூட்டமாக வைத்துவிட்டு கேட்டில் ஏறி உள்ளே இறங்கி ஓடினேன்..

அந்தப் பிரம்மாண்டமான படிக்கட்டுகளில் திரண்டு வந்த ரசிகர்களை வழிமறித்த மன்றப் பொறுப்பாளர் ஒருவர், "அண்ணன்(விஜயகாந்த்) பொருளாளர் கல்யாணத்துக்குப் போறாருப்பா.. திரும்பி வருவாரு.. அப்புறமா பாருங்க..” என்று கெஞ்சாத குறையாக எங்களைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்தினார். யார் கேக்கப் போறா..? அவரையும் தாண்டி மேலே ஏற.. பட்டென்று மேலேயிருந்த கேட்டை இழுத்துப் பூட்டிவிட்டு போலீஸாரை வரவழைத்தார் அவர்.. போலீஸ் தலையைப் பார்த்தவுடன் கூட்டம் பிய்த்துக் கொண்டு நாலாபுறமும் ஓடியது. நானும்தான்..

பழையபடி அதே மரத்தடியில் வந்து நின்று, “என்னடா..! உடனேயே மனுஷன் கிளம்பி்ட்டாரு..?”ன்னு விசாரிச்சா.. விஜயகாந்த் ரசிகர் மன்றத்தின் பொருளாளரும், விஜயகாந்தின் நீண்ட கால நண்பருமான சுந்தர்ராஜனுக்கும் அன்றைக்குத்தான் திருமணமாம். ‘விஜயகாந்த் திருமணத்தன்றுதான் நானும் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்வேன்..’ என்று சபதமெடுத்து அதன்படியே செய்து காட்டிய உத்தம நண்பர் இவர். அந்தத் திருமணம் தெற்குவாசல் பகுதியில் ஒரு மண்டபத்தில் நடந்தது. (விஜயகாந்த் சமீபத்தில் திருவரங்கத்தில் பொதுமக்கள் முன்னிலையில் ஏதோ ஒரு கோபத்தில், கட்சிக்காரர் ஒருவரை உரிமையுடன் கன்னத்தில் அறைந்தாரே. ஞாபகமிருக்கிறதா..? அது இந்த சுந்தர்ராஜனைத்தான்..!)

பாதுகாப்புக்கு உள்ளே மண்டப கேட்டில் நின்று கொண்டிருந்த போலீஸாரிடம் பல ரசிகர்கள் சிநேகத்துடன் "ஏண்ணே யாராவது நடிகைங்க வந்திருக்காங்களா..?" என்று விசாரித்தார்கள்.. ஒருத்தர்கூட வரலை என்றவுடன் பலருக்கும் சோகம்.. எனக்கும்தான்..!
"ஒரு நடிகைகூட வரலியே..! எத்தனை பேரோட அண்ணன் டூயட் பாடியிருப்பாரு.. எத்தனை பேருக்கு சான்ஸ் கொடுத்தாரு.. இது முக்கியம் இல்லியா..? எப்படி வராம போனாங்க..! ஏமாத்திட்டாங்க அத்தனை பேரும்..!" என்று சிலர் திட்டித் தீர்த்தார்கள். அவர்கள் நான் அதிகம் எதிர்பார்த்திருந்தது ராதிகாவை..!
(வந்தால் சட்னிதான் என்பதை உணர்ந்துதான் எந்த நடிகையும் வரவில்லை. ஆனால் சென்னையில் வைத்த திருமண வரவேற்புக்கு வந்திருந்த ரேகாவும், வைஷ்ணவியும் கண்கலங்கித்தான் வெளியில் வந்தார்கள். அந்த அளவுக்கு ரசிகர்களின் அன்புத் தொல்லை இருந்தது..)
நேரம் ஓடிக் கொண்டிருந்தது.. வி.ஐ.பி.க்கள் கியூ வரிசையில் நின்று அன்பளிப்புகளைக் கொடுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். வேகாத வெயிலில் என்ன செய்வது என்று தெரியாமல் உலாத்திக் கொண்டிருந்த எனக்கு அருகில் இருந்த தமுக்கம் மைதானத்தில் ரசிகர்களுக்காக பிரியாணி காத்திருப்பதாகவும், ராவுத்தர் ஏற்பாடு அது என்றும், அங்கே ரசிகர்களோடு ரசிகராக விஜயகாந்தும் சாப்பிடப் போகிறார் என்றும் சொன்னார்கள்.

ஆஹா.. பிரியாணியா..? அதுவும் ஓசிலயா..? எவன் விடுவான்.. மனம் பரபரத்தது நடக்கப் போவது தெரியாமல்.. நாம ஒண்ணு நினைச்சா, முருகன் ஒண்ணு செய்வானே..! செஞ்சுட்டான்..!

நேரம் ஆக, ஆக ரசிகர்களின் கூட்டம் அதிகரித்துக் கொண்டே போனது. சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து வெளியில் வந்தார்கள் மணமக்கள். கூட்டம் அருகே ஓட.. போலீஸ் மிகப் பிரயத்தனப்பட்டு அவர்களை அடக்க, விஜயகாந்த் போலீஸை ஒதுங்கச் சொன்னார். அவர்களும் ஆளை விட்டால் போதும் என்று மனதுடன் ஒதுங்கிக் கொள்ள..
ஒரு திறந்த ஜீப்பில் விஜயகாந்தும், பிரேமலதாவும் மாலையும், கழுத்துமாக ஏறினார்கள். பிரேமலதா அடக்கமாக கை கூப்பியபடியே வர.. விஜயகாந்த் தனது ரசிகர்களை நோக்கி கை ஆட்டியபடியே வந்தார்.. ஜீப், தமுக்கம் மைதானம் நோக்கிச் சென்றது.

ஜீப்பின் முன்னும், பின்னும் அப்படியொரு கூட்டம். நெரிசலில் கூடவே ஓடினேன்.. வியர்வை பொங்கி வழிந்தது.. அதெல்லாம் இப்பத்தான் தோணுது. அப்ப இருந்தது ஒரு ஆர்வமும், பிரியாணி மீதான பாசமும்தான்..

ரோட்டின் இரு புறமும் இருந்த பெண்களிடத்தில் அமோக ரெஸ்பான்ஸ்.. கூட்டம் நகராமல் அப்படியே நிற்க.. “சீக்கிரம் போங்க.. சாப்பிடணும்.. நிறைய பேர் காத்துக்கிட்டிருக்காங்க..” என்று மைக்கில் சொல்லிச் சொல்லி நகர்த்தினார்கள் ரசிகர் மன்றத் தலைவர்கள். சில இடங்களில் ரசிகர்களே கரகாட்டம், காவடியாட்டத்திற்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் வேறு சில சில இடங்களில் ஜீப்பை நிறுத்தி தங்களது ஆட்டத்தைத் தொடர விஜயகாந்தே தலையிட்டு சீக்கிரம் போகும்படி சொல்ல வேண்டியதாயிற்று..

தமுக்கம் மைதானத்தின் உட்புறம் இருந்த மண்டபத்தில் பிரியாணி விருந்து ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது. அங்கேயும் போலீஸ் குவிப்பு. விஜயகாந்தின் ஜீப் மைதாத்தில் உள்ளே நுழையவே 20 நிமிடங்கள் பிடித்தது.. கூட்டத்தில் செருப்பு பிய்ந்து, ஒரு செருப்பை போட மனமில்லாமல் தூக்கியெறிந்துவிட்டு வீராதிவீரனாக உள்ளே நுழைந்தேன்.

உள்ளே ஏற்கெனவே ரசிகர் மன்றத் தலைவர்கள் ரசிகர்களைப் பொறுக்கியெடுத்து சாப்பிடுவதற்குத் தயாராக, வரிசையாக அமர வைத்திருந்தார்கள். பிரியாணி என்றவுடன் சாப்பிட பசியாய் பறந்து வந்திருந்த, என்னைப் போன்றவர்களுக்கு இதைப் பார்த்தவுடன் திக்கென்றானது, எப்ப நாம சாப்பிடறது என்று..!?

கூட்டம் விஜயகாந்த் தம்பதிகளோடு உள்ளே நுழைய முயல இரும்பு கேட்டை லேசாகத் திறந்து விஜயகாந்தோடு 5 பேரை மட்டுமே உள்ளே அனுமதித்த ராவுத்தர், கேட்டை இழுத்துச் சாத்திவிட்டார். பின்பு ஆரம்பி்த்தது எங்களுக்கு சாத்து..

லேசான தள்ளுமுள்ளு.. தடியடிதான்.. உள்ளே பிரியாணியை ஆவலோடு பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த என் தொடையில் ஏதோ ஒரு அடி.. ‘ஐயோ..!’ என்று கத்தியபடியே கீழே விழுந்தேன். அடுத்த அடியும் அதே தொடையில் விழுந்தது.. நிமிர்ந்துகூட பார்க்க தைரியமில்லாமல், கூட்டத்தை விலக்கிக் கொண்டு போய் வெளியில் வந்து விழுந்தேன்.

தமுக்கம் மைதானத்தின் முகப்பில் ஒரு மரம் இருந்தது. இப்போது இருக்கிறதா இல்லையா என்று தெரியவில்லை. அந்த மரத்தின் ஓரமாகப் போய் தொடையைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு நின்றவன், சில நொடிகளில் நிற்கவே முடியவில்லை. அப்படியே அமர்ந்துவிட்டேன்.

சிறிது நேரத்திற்கு காலை அசைக்கக்கூட முடியவில்லை. என்னைப் போன்று அடி வாங்கிய பல ரசிகர்களும் மரியாதையாக வெளியே வந்து ஒதுங்கி நிற்க.. சில நொடிகளில் கூட்டம் கட்டுக்குள் வந்தது.. பின்பு ரசிகர் மன்றத் தலைவர்கள் பலரும் ஓடோடி வந்து ரசிகர்களை சமாதானப்படுத்தி ‘அனைவருக்கும் பிரியாணி உண்டு..’ என்று சொல்லி வயிற்றில் பால் வார்த்தார்கள்.

ஆனால் என்னால்தான் அதனை ரசிக்க முடியவில்லை. வலி என்றால் அப்படி ஒரு வலி.. அழுதேவிட்டேன். என் நிலையைப் பார்த்த ஒரு ஆள், “தம்பி மாமனுங்க அடிச்சிட்டானுங்களா..?” என்றார். என்னத்த சொல்றது நானு..!? பதில் சொல்லாமல் நான் அவரைப் பார்க்க.. “மொதல்ல கொஞ்ச நேரம் அப்படித்தான் இருக்கும்.. அப்படியே ஆட்டாம, அசையாம இருங்க.. தசை இறுகிருக்கும். கொஞ்ச நேரத்துல சரியாப் போயிரும்..” என்றார் அக்கறையோடு.. ஒருவேளை நல்ல அனுபவசாலியாக இருப்பார் போலிருக்கு..

சட்டையின் பின்பக்கம் கிழிந்து தொங்கிய நிலையில், பேண்ட்டும் அழுக்காகி, செருப்பு இல்லாமல் தலைமுடி கலைந்து, கிட்டத்தட்ட ஓசி பிரியாணி சாப்பிடக்கூடிய தோற்றத்தில்தான் நானும் இருந்தேன். ஆனால் பிரியாணி சாப்பிடும் மனநிலையில் இல்லை.

வலியோடு நான் உட்கார்ந்திருக்க.. முதல் பந்தி முடிந்து விஜயகாந்த் ரசிகர்களோடு சாப்பிட்டுவிட்டு வெளியேறினார். மறுபடியும் கூட்டம் அவரை மொய்த்தது.. “எல்லாரும் கண்டிப்பா சாப்பிட்டுட்டுத்தான் போகணும்..” என்று விஜயகாந்த் சொன்னபோது தமுக்கமே கை தட்டலில் அரண்டு போனது..

பின்பு அம்பாசிடர் காரில் அவரும், திருமதியாரும் வெளியேற.. ரசிகர்கள் கூட்டம் அவர்களது காரைத் துரத்திக் கொண்டே ஓடியது. எனக்கும் கால் நல்லாயிருந்தா சத்தியமா துரத்தியிருப்பேன். முடியலையே..

கொஞ்சம், கொஞ்சமாக கால் வலி குறைய.. எழுந்து நடந்தேன்.. நேரம் மதியானம் இருக்கும் என்று நினைக்கிறேன்.. ‘இப்போதைக்கு வீட்ல போய் படுக்கணும்யா..’ என்ற ஒரு எண்ணத்தைத் தவிர வேறு எதுவும் வராமல் போய்விட்டது அப்போதைக்கு..

அங்கிருந்து பொடி நடையாய் நொண்டியபடியே நடந்து ராஜா முத்தையா மன்றத்திற்கு வந்து, எனது ஓட்டை சைக்கிளைத் தேடியெடுத்து வீடு திரும்பியபோது, வீட்டில் அனைவரும் என்னை பார்த்த பார்வை இருக்கிறது பாருங்க..! ம்ஹும்.. ரெண்டு நாளைக்கு ஒருத்தர் முகத்தைக்கூட நிமிர்ந்து பார்க்க முடியல..!!!

இதற்கு பின்பு பல கட்சி ஊர்வலங்களில் போலீஸ் தடியடியில் சிக்கி அடிபட்ட அனுபவம் உண்டு என்றாலும், முதல் அனுபவம் இதுதான் என்பதால் மறக்க முடியாமல் போய்விட்டது..!

இதுல இருந்து நான் சொல்றது என்னன்னா..!
1. தயவு செய்து ஓசி பிரியாணிக்காக எங்கேயும் அலையாதீங்க..!?????????
2. எந்தக் கூட்டத்துக்குப் போனாலும், போலீஸ் இருந்தா கொஞ்சம் சுதாரிப்பா இருந்துக்குங்க..! மாட்டினீங்க அவ்ளோதான்..!

Popular actor and DMDK president Vijayakanth will tour the Rishivandhyam constituency for three days from today to thank voters who had elected him as their representative in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

The Captain, who on Sunday offered prayers at the Goddess Kamakshi Amman Temple in Kanchipuram along with wife Premalatha and party workers, said it was his duty to thank the people.


The actor-politician, who is affectionately called as ‘Captain’ by his fans and party workers, started his ‘thanks-giving’ tour at 9 am today from Manalurpet, one of the villages in the constituency.


“He will visit 35 villages today, 51 villages tomorrow and another 51 villages on Wednesday to meet the voters. He will personally go to each and every street to express his gratitude,” party sources said.

DMK Supporter Vivek changes track, congratulates Vijayakanth

Comedian Vivek, one of the die-hard DMK supporters and considered close to Kalaignar, surprised his fans and others yesterday when he voluntarily visited DMDK chief Vijayakanth, presented him a shawl congratulating him for the victory of his party and its alliance partner AIADMK, which is the ruling party led by Amma.

As if to convey to others that he’s close to the powers-that-be, Vivek got himself photographed with Vijayakanth. Vivek was so close to those at the helm of affairs in the erstwhile DMK regime and he praised Kalaignar to no end at last year’s function hosted by Kollywood to honour Kalaignar. At that moment, Vivek didn’t even spare Amma with his ‘indirect’ tirades.


With the ‘powers’ at his side, Vivek took the journalist for a ride and had more than once entered into a ‘spat’ with them. Now that DMK’s downslide has started and AIADMK has come to power, Vivek appears to have sensed that ‘change is in the air’ and that he would better switch sides (and allegiances) to ensure that his tenure in the industry is ‘safe’ and ‘hassle-free’. Vivek congratulated Vijayakanth for his soon-to-be-assumed position of Leader of the Opposition in the newly-constituted State Assembly. It’s significant that Vivek had never paid any attention to Vijayakanth during all these years when the latter was toiling in politics. Now that Vijayakanth has achieved some success, Vivek though it best to reach out to him.

I probably think he has a soft corner for vijay as his dad directed maximum numbers of vijayakanth's films. And I also saw at the eelam fasting he talked a lot to ajith.

Once the results were out, I thought of posting something bad about vadivelu.. like sporting avatar of vv where he gets beaten up by Gounder (koil kaalai) or by Captain (engal anna / thavasi) but later decided against that..

this is cent percent true..

many won't know much about this.. what they know is.. Kamal is instrumental in giving him Devar Magan isakki role & a role in Singaravelan though Gounder is the main comedian in that..

here are the few I noted in my recent visit to 90's VK films..

* Chinna Gounder - everyone know vadivelu's character in this.. u all can say that RV Uthayakumar might influenced VV's selection

* Koil Kaalai - again madurai connection comes from Gangai Amaran

Next comes something others don't know..

* Eezhai Jadhi - VV gets a small character.. saw him in one of the scenes standing with the crowd close to VK. E J is not a film which relies on comedy.. its a outright political film directed by Liyakat Ali Khan.. & already they have senthil in their cast.. still VV had a chance

* Sakkarai Devan - own production < IV productions > screenplay - dialogue: Liyakat Ali khan
here too.. very small / side kick kind of character .. had a couple of dialogues..

The above all what I know / saw.. early stages of Vadivelu when Gounder was ruling TFI.. later he was with VK in

* Narasimma
* vallarasu
* Engal anna
* Thavasi

One thing is sure.. Captain cannot develop a character similar to thevar magan isakki & give to vadivelu.. whatever he could.. he helped him

edho prachanai nadandhurukku.. adhai pEsi theerthurukkalam.. thevai illama vadivelu kuLLanari koottathin vaarthaigalaiyum nadunisi naaigalin balaththayum nambi Singaththai edhirkka kalam irangittaru.. rest is history.. unforgettable one for both the sides :)

after election results.. sun tv started again telecasting Captain films.. last week saw (for 5 mins) THAVASI in sun tv ..
just after advt break.. they showed a still of thavasi <to show the film name> & in the background.. "yElE imaya malai" song.. IIRC, usually they won't play songs after advt break

reg: the selection of comedians in VK's films.. his fav. ones are * SS Chandran (DMK connection) * Senthil .. he has done some natpukkaga films with VK .. < pulan visaranai - poonthotta kavalkaran> Gounder's choice in VK films are purely based on the director... & VK won't interfere much in those.. ippadi irukka sOla.. vadivelu'va vaLarthu vitturukkaru..

Leader of the DMDK, Vijaykanth’s younger son, Shanmuga Pandian has decided to take up acting like his father. Vijaykanth and Premalatha’s elder son, Prabhakaran is doing his engineering degree at SRM. Shanmuga Pandian has completed the XII standard examinations and has made up his mind about his career.
The parents couldn’t be prouder and they are grooming him so that he can have a proper launch. His mother is looking at scripts by the dozen trying to find the ideal launch pad for Shanmuga Pandian. The youngster is also taking dance lessons and martial arts classes so that he can specialize in action like his father.

- I had almost 45 mins to close to 1 hr highlights since I have not seen this film but I remember this even from my school days

- It is not a typical Manivannan film.. it doesn't come under either of his lively "comey + commercial" or "thriller + action"

- its a revenge story - against a friend who betrayed the hero

- story goes like this..
Captain is from army - he marries Gowthami coming to the village - supreme star Sarathkumar & 2 others are close friend to Captain & these 3 are wastrel - they already had a fight with Gowthami & this leads to the death of Gowthami when Sarath attempts to... adhethan.. Captain comes to know about this & the rest is how he kills all the 3 & sarath being the last to be killed

- Vinuchakravarthy, captain's superior, Sarath's father... helps him in his mission, even after knowing his son Sarath involved in that & he considers Captain as his son

- Vinu comes in a never seen before character.. its a new attempt for him & is unintentional fun.... Vinu delivers few lines in English.. almost 1/3 of his dialogues.

- oru nalla melody irukku.. duet.. marandhutten. edhO kiLi'nu varum

- some of army scenes has Captain looking like Captain Prabhakaran.. in army dress.. though this was taken first

- my childhood rememberence about this film... Captain over a horse holding eetty.. saw this scene.. used for killing a allakai.. so not liked much..

- Captain uses wig similar to nanE raaja nanE mandhiri.. I donno y Manivannan thought to have it

- comedy is fogettable.. considering the fact it had only Captain's long time DMK friend SS Chandran as the main comedian

- Not a bad film.. Manivannan tried to give it differently ended below the mark & also it came when Captain experiences a great run of Sathriyan - Pulan visaranai - Pon manachelvan etc. etc.

- I don't know about the BO status / the theaters it got released & others related stats.. edhO punniyavan 100 films list irundhadhu adhai copy panni vechu inge post pannikaren..

- another thing to note is Captain orutharku vAippu kudutha mudinja varaikkum niraiya vAippu kudupparu.. appadithan late 80's & early 90's ivarukku villain / friend'ah valam vandharu Supreme Star Sarath..

BTW, I've seen this during bachelor days at Palakkad (every Saturday evening a movie with co-workers was habitual)...though this didn't have Raja (and so I was reluctant to go with the reco by other boys and was campaigning for a Malayalam one), finally agreed to see because of the engg-drop-out-girl. Totally irritated because she got killed in-between :-(

I dont know what 12th standard is ??? Here in UK you do your GSCE (O/Levels) at the age of 16 and A/Levels at the age of 18 and you come out of Uni at the age of 21, unless it is some "Medical course" you do at Uni :)

the normal standard in India is .. start ur schooling at the age of 3 or 3 1/2... that is Kintergarden .. 2 yrs there .. then around 5 or 5 1/2 yrs of age u will be in 1st std.. add one yr for every std.. so u complete 12th std by 17 yrs of age... after that under graduate .. 3 yrs for arts & science, 4 yrs for engineering, 5 yrs for medical.. so around 21 or 22 yrs u will be with a degree ........ fail aagi fail aagi padikkiradhu indha kanakkula varradhu
