H. Sridhar, a popular Sound Engineer who has been involved in over a thousand songs passed away this morning at around 8 am due to a massive heart attack. The Sound Engineer had been part of A. R. Rahman's team right from the onset. He was 50.

Having been closely associated with director's Mani Ratnam, K. Balachander, Bharathiraaja, Shankar, Kamal Haasan, P. C. Sreeram, Priyadarshan and Ramgopal Varma, H. Sridhar was a towering icon when it came to mixing music.

H. Sridhar was the recipient of the prestigious President's Gold Medal (National Award for best Audiography) four times for the films Mahanadhi, Dil Se, Lagaan and Kannathi Muthamilttal.

Sridhar was so talented and was sought after by the likes of George Harrision (a member of the famous Beatles), Pandit Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussain and John McLaughlin to mix music for their albums.

This true talent will surely be missed by the music fraternity.

The demise of A. R. Rahman's Sound Engineer H. Sridhar is a huge loss to the world of music. The technician who has been associated with scores of eminent filmmakers died as a result as of a massive heart attack. Ironically, H. Sridhar was working well into the night the previous night.

His loss is indeed a huge shock.

Very shocking indeed. It was probably a month or so back that I watched him on SPB's show. (Ennodu Paatu Padungal) He looked to be in good health and was giving good tips to the singers. (Who were awful by the way.) Really shocked that he passed away when he still had so much to give.

May he rest in peace and condolences to his family. May God give them strength to bear this tragedy.

Its a great loss to audio engineering fraternity. As far as sound is concerned, he was the backbone of A.R.Rahman. Apart from profession, they shared a good friendship right from ARR's Dilip days. Yes , we will no more see the H.Sridhar,Siva Kumar combo in the cassettes.

His loss is a very big loss...
ARR should atleast pass his condolences directly to the media as they had worked all along all these years and he is more close to ARR than a sound engineer.

As an hardcore ARR fan, I am eager to hear something from Rahman's side.... :confused2: :(

Hearing that he was 50 years old, brought tears.

While there is a loss to music fraternity, the loss to his family
is the real loss.

Dont know if he smoked heavily. He definitely worked too many late nights for famous music directors all over the world. Wish he had learnt to take care of his health. Sometimes passions take over and ruin your health.

Film industry leaders like Rahman should make sure they learn
pacing and guide their workers same way.

I sometimes wish India was a bit slower than this.

Feeling the loss of the genius from bottom of the heart...and praying that we dont hear such young deaths again...

Sridhar was integral to ARR's innovative sounds and a great talent. He will be greatly missed. Given his name in all the latest ARR album credits it seems he died with his boots on. He must have been one of the only Indian sound engineers who had name recognition.

I am reminded of ARR's wonderful "Tere Bina" from Ada on this sad occasion.

Just listened to Sridhar's interview. What a relationship they shared! To ARR, Sridhar was probably a mirror of himself, a self projection. The reason I say this is because, musically they both had the same vision, the same ideas/thoughts especially when it comes to the sounds. To lose that person in your life, is almost like losing urself. God bless Sridhar for his amazing work in his life. We would never hear the sounds of roja/bombay/kannathil muthamitaal ever again... atleast it will never be the same. We deeply regret your loss and we hope you rest in peace, a well deserved rest. You will always be remembered through the sounds of ARRs music.

My condolences to the kith and kin of Sridhar. What a tragic loss !!!A loss that is shared by the family as well as a whole family of music lovers. Surely, he gave shape to what Rahman envisioned and together they created a 'new sound' in the film music industry. It is pity to go out at this young age of 50 !!! Yes !!. It is a reminder to all of us to focus on our health whatever be our career demands. Taking care of our health is not selfishness..it is responsibility to our family, friends and the organizations we work for and associate with. Human resource is the precious resource on earth.
