Few like me, watch movies, probably years later, when they telecast in television. This t hread is to vent out their frustrations or admirations for any movie telecasted in tv.

Manmadhan

I sat thro the movie only for

1. silambarasan
2. so called suspense.

They did retain the suspense (though most of us would be clever enough to guess), however, its a CRAP story to buy.

Its true psychos has weird reasons for turning psycho, even then a poor attempt on sigappu rojakkal.

SR was laid on strong concrete foundation, ...

this was a pathetic stereo type attempt to climb near it, but FAILED PATHETICALLY not just half way thro but way before half way.

I give marks only for, retaining a minimum amount of suspense and also for silambarasan's perf (good enough)

Manmadhan

Not bad and Simbhu proves some thing. Could have avoided the cinematic blood oozing out of nose, and then references that we are only watching a movie - commenting on jothikas expression and "kushilErndhu ippadithaan" not to mention the intro to en aasai mythili.

Best movie of simbhu?

wibhs,

All thro the movie, I waited with greatest interest, to see, whats gonna be the climax.

IF he had finished off, saying, therez actually no brother, and he has a psychic disorder, which none finally could crack, then, it would become a better finished product.

Anniyan climbed way up the ladder, TYPICALLY for its diff approach , when anniyan crops back again.

Here all thro the movie, we sit, patinently waiting for a DAMN GREAT story to reveal itself, only to listen, elder brother takes the role of younger... and none finds out, but leaves him free to do more murders!???

abs nonsense!

climax varai vEgama eri vantha padam, climax la sarikki vittathu.

:exactly:

I rarely watch films on DVD on my TV. I prefer my comp, all-lights out, sitting far away etc. But a cinema is a cinema. The magic of larger than life images, the beam of light and the illusion of the solitude is just so damn important for a good movie.

Watching B/W classics in a theatre is just great.

ANNAI ILLAM

(telecasted in jaya tv 2.00 pm)

Starring Shivaji, Devika, SV rangarao, rajamma, muthuraman, sachu, nagesh, jayanthi (whoz the lady who comes as their mom? I aint sure if its madam rajamma?)

Simply every frame is stealing.

Shivaji at his best with naughtiness and romance in early first half, and emotions personified, in the latter half.

His turmoil when he learns about his father's illegal activities, later his admirable dialogues when he confronts nambiar. We cant dismiss his well controlled emotions, bursting to be let out. He can neither claim his authority as a son, to stop the marriage nor cry his heart out for his to-be-widowed mom.

He can neither pour his grief out to his own family nor, can make anyone understand what is the situation which he has gotten himself into!

Every single dialogue , gesture, move made by shivaji, would make us cry along with him. Every single minute of the climax would keep us waiting for a nail biting finish. Every single artist would have made t heir moves so perfectly well to finish this beautiful emotional jigsaw puzzle.

So dramatic even then so much full of life!

Ive watched this atleast 5 times. I can watch this 5 more times...or more!

[tscii:8f9a9caa89]For Kamal’s birthday, our Satelite TV channel Vellithirai showed MMKR, followed by Japanil Kalyaranaraman.

For reasons unknown, the channel is always getting lousy copy (tapes?), with faded colours and all. Despite it all, MMKR rocks anytime. I saw only the last part…but its okay, I saw the movie more than 20 times. This is one movie you shouldn’t watch alone.

Japanil Kalyanaraman is a curiousity as it is one of very few sequels to come along. Certainly the only sequel in TFI, as far as mainstream films are concerned in the 80s.

And it is such a wasted opportunity. It became a Japan tourism movie. Pretty embarrassing to look at now. Kamal as Raman is boring. Radha is boring. Songs are okay (my favourite Appapa - awesome jazz feast) and one single reason to watch is Kamal as Kalyanam. With pathetic lines, and poor script, he managed to be funny. Check out his dance in Vaya Vaya….one can dance, but how many can dance gracefully and be funny too?

Yesterday I saw

"aaha ethanai azhagu"

Tension free, cool love story, mindless ( also brainless ) entertainer. Sharmi looks cute. Hero (Mithun) is okei. Nothing extraordinary about the movie. If you have nothing else to do and coincidentally the movie is on, can take a chance and watch it once.

I didn't like bhavna, songs were DULL.

Story is good. melodramatic sensible enough way back in 70z.

Vikram is charming

It seems its shridevi's debut movie ! wow! she looked like a budding princess! Utpal dutt, nadira, were all neatly placed and did rightly what was expected out of them. It was weird and sweet to see rita bhaduri and jalal agha playing young roles.

Oh, ok. 'Bharatham' is by Sibi Malayil. Here's the link (http://www.moserbaerhomevideo.com/title-view.php?titleid=3357). I think the Malayalam collection on MoserBaer is quite good for beginners. You can find most of the well-known films of Sathyan Anthikkad, Sibi Malayil et al, though it's hard to find the likes of Padmarajan and Bharathan.

Thanks for that link eq. Moser Baer has some lovely titles. In fact collecting most of Sibi Malayil's earlier films (Sadayam, Thani Avarthanam, Kireedam, HH Abdullah, Bharatham...) is not a bad idea - apart from finding Bharathan and PadmarAjan's works of course.

I just bought an original Audio CD of ThiruvAsagam recently for 50 rs. The low price was quite upsetting. Sort of braced me for the price of the Bharatham DVD in that link.

C thirunal already exists. It was just that before this law was passed, it was also celebrated as TNY but now it has lost its double speciality (according to the DMK's rule) and Thai Maasam Pongal thirunaal has gained the double speciality
