Hey guys, I've been working on some instrumentals of rahman's tracks. I have overlaid them with the original song. However, the focus is obviously the instrumental so I have reduced the volume of the original soundtrack and its there just for a support and tempo maintenance. I didnt know which thread to post it in, so I started a new one.

Here is my first recording:
Munbe Vaa: http://www.sendspace.com/file/irbezx (13 mb) [edited]

The quality is very high. I have ensured that there is no noise or anything like that. It is directly from a synthesizer to a software, so no ambience. let me know how i can improve etc. I'll post sahana saral next. Tell me if you guys have requests. It takes me an hour to do a song without mistakes et al, so I cant make too many. Ill try one song/week.

Good work Thineshan  You could also try some audio softwares which would remove the voice from the original track (results are not always perfect). Then you can mix the instrumental track with that one.

yep i tried to do that, but rahman does a lot of effects on teh voice like reverb etc. and its really very hard to remove without distorting the main BG. thats why i kept it like this. but if i do find a good voice remover, i will surely do that. thx, i also have sahana and ellapuzaghum if u guys want.

hey littlemaster, i listened to ur advice and thanks to Vithur from yfg, I was able to find a professional software to remove the vocals. and the result was terrific. it removed just the vocals leaving 95% of the BG intact. so here it is. I have uploaded Munbe Vaa and Ellapugazhum . the latter turned out really well. You might need to increase ur speaker volume a bit more than normal because I intentionally reduced the master volume to avoid distortions.

All vocal removers basically work the same way. They remove whatever is mixed at exactly the same level in the left and right channels. Depending on how the song was mixed it may remove the vocals, it may not remove the vocals, it may remove other sounds.

If you have a program like Audacity or Adobe Audition, all you need to do is invert one channel (doesn't matter which) and mix the left and right channels to mono to cancel out what is the same in both channels.

Thineshan, which software did you use for removing vocals? All the vocal removers I tried worked in the same way as Dragun told, so the results were not very good.

Good attempt Thineshan! :D

....but u can still hear vocals....i guess they're hard to completely remove? Did u play the vocal instrumental yourself on a keyboard?

Here is the next one, since JA craze is very high, thot it would be the best time to release an instrumental of a very complex track, Inlamhoke. I realized its true beauty when I recorded the notes, wow madusree's rendition and Sonu's whisper is beyond this world. I have odne both in the instrumental along with other rendition, however I kept the chorus since its not lyrics but rather jathis and also because u cant remove them using VR.

**i will definitely redo munbe vaa since the quality is not at all satisfying. there is a lag in the recording due to latency problems.

Hey Thinesh, just listened to your Mayil Iragae intrumental, and i'm pretty impressed. You've removed the vocals completely this time! It sounds much more professional.

My only suggestion would be to lower the volume of the accordian..as it seems a little loud against the music (just a little!).

Also have you tried just playing these songs on the piano/keyboard with chords? Maybe you can post a video on YouTube one day? lol :D

hey thanks for the tips. the main reason why i chose this method is because its different. there are many people who play chords and melody, i just wanted to try something different by using vocal removing method and replacing it with an instrument (like muzhumathi). btw, i am not a very good piano player, but i am a good keyboard player. there is a lot of difference. piano is for performance where you have a live audience and you should know how to play chords, melody whatever, all at the same time. but keyboard is different. its for recording, composing purposes. thats another reason why i chose this method over chord/melody. but i will do give it a try. thx

and, i will pay attention to the volume level next time. i am currently reworking munbe vaa since my earlier one wasn't that good. thx again for taking the time to download/listen.

do you guys have ne favourites that you would like to hear as instrumental? ill be glad to do it

So you're a budding composer? :D

Erm....as for requests you could try Nathiye from Rhythm, but I don't know is this one is tricky as there's some vocal layering.

hmm there will be a lot of left over voices since the voice is processed (reverb). ill give it a shot. i dont have the original CD for that also, i lost it on my way to the states. i cant see if the voice can be removed or not without a .wav (mp3 is compressed so voice removers have a hard time)

Hey guys, first of all I am very glad to revive this thread. I first created it to share my munbe vaa instrumental and now i am reviving it to share munbe vaa instrumental again. This time, the entire music was recreated at TK Productions. I am very glad to present you this. I did this for my keyboard students for a show so they can play like a karoeke kinda thing. I did not spend time on this since I had to complete this within 6 hours before the show so forgive me as obviously it is impossible to recreate the golden touch of the maestro. Anyway, here it is. Like always I am posting the wave along with an mp3 version so if u have ARR ears you have a choice for that too lol. enjoy!

*Also for those who have facebook, search for "TK Productions" to listen to some original attempts including this song. There is also a song that I made for my mom on mother's day. Check it out. Leave comments there if possible for my original works.
