This week's Podcast is about "Saranathar ThiruKovil,Thirucherai". This divya Kshetram is 15 kms South of kumbakonam, and 4 km north of kodavasal.
The Moolavar is Saranathan in a standing posture and the thayar is known as saranayaki.As per Legend it is believed that Markandeya and Kaveri Amman meditated upon Lord Vishnu.It is also believed that brahma made a clay plot to rescue and preserve the Vedas during pralaya,but none of the pots made by Brahma would last.There upon he was directed by Lord Vishnu to proceed to Thirucherai (Saara Kshetram) and make a pot out of the clay on the banks of kaveri, and thus the Vedas were protected in a pot made out of tough mud at this place.

Theertham – Sara Pushkarini
Vimanam -- SaraVimanam
Darshan Time : 6.30am – 12, 5-8pm
This temple has two prakarams and 90 feet high Rajagopuram.There are shrines for Yoga Narasimhar and RajaGopalaswamy with his consorts Rukmani and satyabama.It is also believed that Anjaneya blesses the devotees from the west end of Pushkarini and Ganesh from northeastern side.
