ARR has worked with a lot of directors in India. He has worked with accomplished directors, some average ones and also newcomers. But of them all, only a few have been able to do justice to his music with their tune selection, stunning visuals, apt situations, suitable artistes, etc. Even some mediocre directors have been able to bringout the best from ARR in terms of songs and BGM. I have listed down some of them who've brought out the best from him. So i wanted to share that with all other ARR fans by starting a poll..

The credit should go to Mani R for identifying a great talent in ARR . So 70% marks to MR only.

Roja, AP , Bombay, Dilse - itself enough to talk about Mani R.

but someone who has been consistently holding on to ARR is Shankar who deserves 20% atleast .

Gentleman was vintage stuff & kadhalan too !

Chikkubukku rayile was a school anthem for me during 90s !

And Mudhalavane song was awesome picturisation !

K.Balachander was opportunitistic . He was looking for an IR alternative & just jumped on to ARR. Otherwise no great affinity or great picturisation.

Some marks to K.S.R. who showed the commercial angle of ARR in Muthu / Padayappa , the songs were more for the fans !

Last but not the least, one pat for Suresh Menon for Pudhiya mugam , a movie which made ARR a viable alternative for Isainyani

BR + ARR combo is hugely underrated:

kizhakku cheemayilE
taj mahAl
KaNgaLaal kaidhu sei

May be due to the fact that the last two movies were colossal flops :(

good point Nakeeran......actually ppl. give so much credit to Roja and forget Pudhiya Mugam's contri to ARR's success......if Pudhiya Mugam wud have been a damp squib, then ARR wud have been a one film wonder.....for me Pudhuiya Mugam and Gentleman were as imp as Roja......

my fav combo is Mani-ARR/.......simply bcos my fav director-my fav MD combo.......

but ARR-BR is a class apart....Taj Mahal is out of the world.....KKS was also of very high quality.........

Karuthamma was an example of ARR capable of doing folk music also

Unfortunately BR was too old to get the best out of ARR.

If ARR could have had the association with BR in the 70s ! , it would have been a great challenge to BR-IR combo !

BR's strengths were his great picturisation !

Yeah. Rajiv Menon also had a fair share on ARR

Kandukonden was a milestone for ARR .

Kannamboochi enada / kandu konden - were raga based & if Ash is there , it adds flavour ! :D

Smie is vintage Ajit with Pooja Batra & that blue background was awesome !

Even Minsara kanavu songs were nice ones .

MR did bring ARR and made his album's sell like hot cakes, but it really didnt shine on the screens, very very bad picturization, AE........Senyora(KM). the best directors to utilize ARR's music on screen goes to Shankar, KSR,rajiv, kadhir

BR blew it in terms of picturization in KKS(extraordinary music wasted)

Why did you leave the super duper hit Pera(r)ssu's Dharmapuri aka Erumapuri?

ajaybaskar

Perarasu has an interesting profile

Thirupachi-Super hit
Sivakasi-Hit
Tirupathi-Average
Dharmapuri-Flop

It is evident that he is on the verge of becoming the undisputed king(!!!) of Tamil cinema? Y bother him unnecessarily?
