Songs of IR-TMS combo

Well, TMS sang for IR in the very first film (sOga version of `annakkiLi onnaththEdudhE'). He has also sung a handful of songs in the early IR-Shivaji combo movies.

Let's discuss those few songs (some of them real gems) here...please DO NOT jump into discussing the bad blood between them...but focus on only the positive aspects of those lovely songs.

Perhaps the best song of this combo (IMHO) is `endhan pon vaNNamE, anbu poo vaNNamE' from the Shivaji-Rajini starrer `nAn vAzha vaippEn'...

This song used to be a regular on IOKS during the late 70's and 80's...very sweet, controlled singing by TMS...I had a chance to listen to this song recently (after a very long time) and quite stunned at the freshness!

`en rAjaththi kaNNE , kalangAdhiru'...nalla bhAvaththOdu, inimaiyAga pAdi irukkiRAr...Ofcourse, the melody is superb and a nice Raja trade mark accompaniment that differentiates the song from a regular TMS-nonIR song...

This song is one of the many examples how a singer can increase the value of a song by leaps and bounds...

Located a MP3 version of this song (vERa vazhi? esp. in MI)...Listened to this while at work today may be 20 times on headphone...alukkavE alukkAdha idhamAna oru pAdal...

I should search for some more TMS-IR combo gems that were once regular on Radio...(mostly forgotten now)...

Looks like we've already compiled a handful...well, now please discuss on the extra-punch that TMS gave to these songs...We all know he had a unique, manly voice (unlike the `boyish' voice of SPB in that time period or the `softie and at times vidhwanish' voice of KJY during the same period)...

Please take one song at a time, and comment on specifically what TMS had to offer in that...(may be less on what IR had to offer - it was pretty much a constant factor, whether TMS song or SPB song or KJY song...)

May be let's focus on `endhan pon vaNName' first, as this song has tons to offer...that we can relish...

Why not some pundits comment on what's so special in `endhan pon vaNNamE' that got me hooked to this so much...that too after this many years? Definitely not the nostalgic factor, as there are 100 other IR songs that I can relate to, in fact in a more prominent way...but this song is so MUSICALLY impressive!

I am not sure what movie but TMS/PS in Sivaji Padmini starrer where IR did a recycle on "Unnai Ondru Ketpaen Unmai" Puthiya Paravai song with "Ilamai Kalam Engae endru thirumbum Ingae"

Dear app,
two more TMS songs

1. KUdhiraiyilae naan amarndhen from "Avar enakae Sondham" -- TMS sung well in this song !!

2.Nandurudhu nariyurudhu from "Biravi" for Rajini -- Rajiniku TMS ai accept panni kolla mudiyavillai. Late after, MSV fits well for RAjini !!!

One more song in this film -- katta pullae kutta pulae

I do remember reading the newspaper those days...thanthi even had a front page headline news of the launch of `unnai vida mAtten' that had IR's photograph.

Was this record ever released (even though the movie didn't take off)? Or, at least, is the original sound track available somewhere? Knowing that MGR is a connoisseur of music and IR like a thuLLum aruvi at that point of time, this song should have been an avalanche...

Nandoorudhu nariyoorudhu was a Rajini special those days !

One reason why IR-TMS songs were few could be because of NT getting aged . During this phase ( late 70s ) , TMS sang some songs for Rajini & Kamal also !

thAi meedhu sathiyam & thAyillAmal nAnillai - both Devar film movies had Shankar-Ganesh as MD's...(vadivElan is a S-G composition)...

`thOraNam Adidum mEdaiyil nayagan, nAyagi' used to be another regular on IOKS...(with that new found `doiing-do-doiing' synthesiser sound which was a passion for Raja those days)...yes, I love the westernised ArArirArO humming of SJ:-)
