Here are few more poll ideas for IR fans....

1) Who is the best MD in 80s?
2) Who gave best music to Bharathiraja?
3) Who gave best music to Ramarajan / Rajkiran?
4) Who was most popular MD before ARR?
5) Who is the best MD with name starting with letter I?

Have fun.....

If Yesudas and SPB were sung those songs it would have been out of the world classics. Only saving grace to IRs voice is the mesmerizing tune.

Here are some more spoiled sport effort by IR not giving the songs to professional singers

Malarae Pesu Mouna Mozhi, Oru jeevan Azhaithathu, Thulli Ezhunthathu Patt (Geethanjali)
Intha Maan Undan (Karakattakaran)

Now try imagining SPB or KJY were to sing these songs

Now imagine IR singing

Mandram Vanthu or Nilavae Vaa or Eramana Rojavae or Senthazham Poovil

May be Raman Andalum Ravanan Andalaum may go well with IRs voice

Even Janani Janani would have been great with KJY.

There can be as many if's and but's still There are lovers of IR's voice here who say that 'Idhayam oru koyil' has more soul into it sung by Raja rather than the gr8 SPB :)
Anyway Janani janani was to be sung by Yesudas only and when he didnt turn up being held up somewhere else and as the recording was getting late IR sang the track session.... eventually mesmerised by his rendering the whole crew and Yesudas himself insisted on keeping this song in IR's voice itself. Yesudas would've butchered that song's sanskrit rendition with his highly malayalam accented style Thanks that he got late that day :P
This should light up something in your highly biased brain

Vysar,

I know how much you changed after the TIS episode
You are the one who announced that you are a proud fan of ARR thenafter. You were never a music lover before nor now ...and if ARR is tied up in some controversy tomorrow [I know he will not but we are still free to use 'if' - ain't it] you will become a fan of YSR or any other happening MD then and vent out your anger on ARR in every possible way... well what I say is There is no need to vent your anger on IR in every possible thread. Grow up and get a life dude :)

Buddy:

I don't need your advice. Look who is calling the other to grow up. I am very careful in presenting my arguements. Since ardent IR fan like you cannot come up with a valid counter. You have lame excuses like IR or kamalhassan already accepted that in an interview without presenting any proof.

It is very hard to swallow bitter medicines so learn to ignore if it doesn't suit you because TFMpage is a open forum.

"Yesudas would've butchered that song's sanskrit rendition with his highly malayalam accented style"

I think this is not fair. For two reasons:

1. KJY couldn't have butchered ANY song with his accent or pronunciation (his `therukkOyile' included...I simply love that song despite that...)

2. malayaLam is 50% sanskrit and any day an average malayaLi can pronounce sanskrit better than an average maRaththamizhan:-) Two persons whose pronunciation of sanskrit words is close to perfection are Mohanlal & KJY (`sputigamAna uchchAraNam')...I'm not telling IR is average maRaththamizhan, his sanskrit pronunciation may be excellent but that doesn't mean KJY's is inferior either...

Thiruvaasagam was Gr8 in IR's voice...It gave me an image of the real Nayanmaar's voice..

Some duets with Janaki...by IR r simply superb..Not all..

These are my favourites :
1.Thiruvaasagam - Pooveru Koanum..
2.Thiruvaasagam - Polla Vinayaen..
3.Naayagan - Thenpaandi Cheemayilae..
4."Kannammaaa kaadhal ennum...'"think it was with balu mahendra..
5."cholai pasungiliyae " - Rajkiran's movie
aiyaiyoa list romab perusaagum pola irukkae..

Hey! One think can be noted the Music he has scored to songs sung by him is slightly better ...than for those sung by others.

Which MD cud hav given Musical Hits to bhagyaraaj,ramaraajan..and many new faces of that time that vanished..

Well, I think MSV because 3 of the best ever MD's India has produced have called upon him to sing in their direction:
1. MSV(himself) :-)
2. IR
3. ARR

Now, if that doesn't close the argument, I don't know what will :-)

Surely IR. There are far too many great songs for a neutral observer to ignore. I like the number vaLLi vaLLi ena vandhan also. Maybe not for IR's rendition but the song as a whole.

When will IR sing for ARR? Surely IR must by now have realized that ARR is a decent, if not an awesome, musician. Maybe a day will come when MSV, IR, and ARR in tandem will create music.

MSV also sang for IR in a Malayalam movie Yatramozhi. That was topped off by the fact that it was Sivaji Ganesan onscreen. Surely, a more heavyweight combination of MD-Singer-Actor hasnt appeared on Indian Screen before or after?

I like IR's voice in many of the songs, but would not consider the best MD's voice. he suits some of the songs, like KH had a better rendition of ninaivo oru paravai.

IR has sung too many songs. So some of them are bound to be good. But his songs are always soulful. ARR and Bharadwaj are also good in their own way.

Btw, who has more songs to his credit- IR or MV?

ARR outshone Lata Mangeshkar in "Lukka Chuppi" song from RDB.....he is also great when it comes to patriotic songs.....the pain in his voice is soul-stirring........his amma songs are also another jewel to his crown....

from IR, i love this song: naan thedum sevvandhi poo idhu from some crap karthik movie....it suited karthik pretty well,surprisingly...

Ilaya Raaja is best in both music & singing, among MD's.

Someone mentioned about SPB, but he is considered as a singer.

IR voice suited Kamal,Karthik,Murali,rajkiran,ramarajan!

He even gave hits for janakaraj,
kaadhal enbadhu podhu udamai - palaivana rojaakkal

& evergreen.... nila adhu - naayakan

I think, this trend is later copied/followed by:

chandrabose - for janakaraj itself, poonchittu kuruvigala
deva - for thalaivaasal vijay, kaadhal kottai
I hope my info is right

About MSV & IR singing together:

some times back I heard a song from the film "unnai saranadaithaen" hailing about friendship.......

starting with MSV's voice.... then IR continues from there & then joined by SPB.

Music for this film is SPB. I hope my information is correct.

"As for the difference in having established music directors singing his tunes as against other singers Yuvan feels: "Generally, what the composers grasp and sing in 10 minutes, takes a longer time for others." "

The above statement is not outrageous due to his comment that MDs grasp tunes faster, its just outrageous that he thinks that it would take more than 5 mins for ANYONE to grasp his so-called tunes :-)

And born of thamizh parents, neither YSR nor KR nor Bhava can pronounce "La", "zha" to save their lives.
Indha latchaNathula how can anyone expect them to bother about Shreya Ghosal's or Udit Narayan's pronunciation?
