Remembrance

By ananth

Memory, memory! forsake me not
Don't you dare to let me rot!
Come back and cover my soul so dry
Rekindling happy thoughts gone by!

Letters, words, phrases and prose
That in my mind's eye once arose
How did they vanish into the void?
What was it that got them annoyed?

Scenes and sights that once did dance
When I cared not to shed a glance
Recall them now I beg you, please!
And me from this hell release!

How could you watch me go to slumber
With no trace of joy to remember
How could you let me burn my root
You standing aside without giving a hoot!

Promise I do from now on to keep
In my heart in a place so deep
Where every precious piece of you
Will stay and shine to brighten my view.
