I just went through Mario Puzo's "the last don". A wonderful book... kept me reading till i finished.
This man is a real wonder... the Italian values he quotes of so much sounds so Indian.. (like a single wife n faithfullness...family...etc)..but not that ruthlessness... Makes one actually like people who go around putting bullets in others.. makes you sort of like the underworld... a master story teller. comments?

Have also read godfather and the family.
please suggest some other novels which are of this calibre... maybe of any other novelist...

Not only The Godfather, but also its sequel The Sicillian was also a good read. His other works about the Mafia include "Omerta" & "Fools Die."
Mario Puzo's "The Fourth K" also was well written with lot of insight.
