Thanks RS, especially for the Kannada movies. I was looking for them and had got a few of them like Gulabi and Prema Haadu.. but the others were missing in the market. Loving the songs as usual. Can't thank you enough.

Infact I have been listening to Yugandhar continuously. Have written an article on them. Will post it in my blog soon.

Suresh,

Did you listen to 'Shivasainya' great compositions there!
I love 'Raaja naama Rajyake' and 'Chikkamangalure'. 'Raaja namma Rajyake' has great orshestration with excellent guitar backing, drums, synths and interludes.
its always difficult for a Dance choroegrapher to choreograph for a Raaja song. from nowhere a melodious interlude will pop up for a dance no. and the choreographer will find himself in a spellbound state. :)

The interludes of 'jailali Hutti' are symphonic in nature while the song is a folk no. Even before seeing the movie I visualised the scenes of this song and I was 100% right.

The remaining songs 'Arey laila laila' 'O mere pyare' 'Yuva krantiya' 'Om shanthi' makes this album one of its kind with various styles infused together like a garland of variety of flowers - The fragrance is heavenly...

RS, adhu romba simple. It is a ram file. Right Click on a song link and save the file in your hard drive. Then go to the folder where this file is and right click and edit with ntoepad, wordpad or any editor. You will find the link to .rm. Just copy paste that onto your browser. For example, clikc on below link for the first song

RS,

Here is how you can download 'Hoomale'

1. Right click on the 'Hoomale' link and 'Copy Shortcut' (Assuming you are using Firefox. Equivalent stuff in IE)
2. Open Microsoft Word and paste this link
3. It will show as " http://www.kannadaaudio.com/Songs/Moviewise/H/HooMale/HooMale.ram"
4. Now the ending .ram and .rm
5. Then highlight this whole link in Microsoft Word
6. Right Click and select "Hyperlink"
7. The Hyperlink tab will have the link already in it. If it doesnt enter the whole link in it
8. Once this is done, the link will be underlined, showing that it is a web link
9. Save this as a .html file (web file) and not as a doc file
10. Close the file
11. Open your browser and go to 'Open' File
12. Browse and select the file you have saved
13. The link will now show up on the browser
14. You can download the song now by right clicking on it

Hope this is clear. I was able to download this song. In case of other songs they don't provide the .ram file but the song is embedded somewhere else. I am not sure how this can be saved. Both the sites you mentioned have this problem.

I am hearing all songs of 'Shivasainya' for the first time, except for 'Chikkamagalura'. Lovely songs.

Full agree with you. I felt the same when a lovely female voice makes a melodious entry in 'Sye Chindaye" in Anatapuram. Even "Bhoodaviya" in Bhoomi Geethe has some lovely melodious passages.

some rare albums here (Office'la Velai illai upload panren :P )

'Uyire unakaaga' (http://www.mediafire.com/?jnniydjmmyw) - was a very recent find for me apart from the song 'Margazhi paarvai' which i listened a couple of years ago. the song 'Poo enbatha' took me by surprise! precisely just before the 2nd interlude exactly after 2:37 my heart stopped for those 10 seconds . I have never heard before human voices used in this manner 'Sharp and crisp' as though stroking two violins countering each other.

'Oppantham' (http://www.mediafire.com/?ljydmyywimy) - I saw the movie in Raj TV after around 30 mins gone and immtly recognized the music is Raaja's. I loved the song 'Orey Idam' instantly and after a long search got this a couple of months ago and this song is in repeat mode from then onwards.

'Orey mutham' (http://www.mediafire.com/?zzlmzdnxyfy) - 'Paavaiyarghal Maan pole' should be a study in seamlessly transitioning from one style of music to another which cannot be recognised unless you are a keen listener. When the song started off I thought its a 'Qawwali' kind of song and started listening amidst other works. The song was running in the background and only after some time into 2nd charanam I realised its taken a Western form then I reversed to know where did 'Raaja' change the pattern... 'therinjukirathula oru santhosham' :)

He will never cease to surprise me I believe. Ensoy folks!

RS,

contrary to what few 'IR staunchies' (people who cannot forgive piracy) I think you are doing a great service by sharing some gems with us. I am damn sure that i would be never able to get some of the songs that you are providing us. Personally, i dont support piracy, as long as a certain album is commercially available (even new songs, after i download mp3s, i buy a original cd). But when it is not, i have no other option of relishing raaja-feast. you are catering just that.. a feast. I cant thank you enough. Bless you!!

Nathiyai Thedi Vantha Kadal (http://www.mediafire.com/?yzziuwzgdtv)
ChinnaRamasamyPeriyaRamasamy (http://www.mediafire.com/?ntunjjgamfc) - It was waiting for the right time, with abundant richness of music, in my DB to be discovered yesterday. search reveals it was a 2000 release movie but the actors/director/banner are elusive. But who cares when 'Raaja' takes the same care to deliver his best for any movie. the richness of orchestration and the experimentation in this album clearly suggests 'Raaja' was in good mood during the composition. Not even single song of the movie will we listen after reading the 'Titles of the song' The lyrics are 'pedestrian', which should have been ok for the subject of the movie, but such grand orchestration is definitely more than what anybody of us could've asked for.
The song situations are very standard 2 'melodies' '2 'Dance' Nos. 1 'Pathos', Yet after 24 years being in the industry delivering day afte day for the same situations 'Raaja' strikes few different notes for this movie.
That this movie has become a old wine for us, I think people will have no aversion to give it a try!
Must Listen :)

baroque - I know it is extra-special for you when 'Lover Boy' is involved. But I guess my parameters are different. Roja Ondru is a generic love-duet. It was in Komberi Mookkan. But it could well have been in Ninaivellam Nithya. And the orchestration reflected that. Whereas Theeram Thedi is in a different world altogether. It has emotional context - the exploration of the relationship is real and it marks the blooming of love between Mohanlal and what's-her-name. True to IR's genius, he captures the emotions in every string plucked for the song. The lovely heart-warming prelude with the flute starts as Sabitha Anand(now I remembered the whats-her-name) touches Lal's hands even as the latter is sulking due to various issues pressing his mind. Love blooms, and Manirathnam is in form here. Maybe it was the environment, but there is none of the pretence and the false-cuteness that would mark his later picturisation here. Even as the violins multiply the joy, MR captures the moments beautifully as the pair grows closer. It is impossible to place this one below 'Roja Ondru', even if I hadnt seen the bearded-one-and-the-well-rounded-one indulging in a chemistry-less fake of an approximation of a pair in love. Having seen that, it only heightens the impact of the malayalam version.

Have updated kannada album collection with movies Bhoomigeethe, Namma Preethiya Ramu, Janma Janmada Anubanda, Namoora Mandara Hoove, Ajanthaa & Gulabi (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=92d0c5a58eae7e5dab1eab3e9fa335ca7f014248 94a6bc83)

Thanks to Suresh for sharing with me his copy of 'Bhoomigeethe' VCD. (The meeting as such was very interesting having found similar tastes in movies and books, hoping to meet more often :)) From normal VCd rips, after ripping I felt the Quality of This movies mp3 audio was good. let me know what you guys feel.

The movie seems to be a great one which I have planned to watch later. But while searching for the songs to rip from the movie, I had a glimpse of what the movie is about. It is about the so called 'civilised' people robbing the lands of ethnic 'Tribes' in the name of development for constructing dams.
The BGM 'Bhoomigeethe' forms the crux of the climax where the clans chief 'Jaggaiyya' says to the govt. officials that 'earth is not the wealth of the people but people are the wealth of earth'. and laer Accepting their defeat from the longarmed govt. they leave their native home which had been theirs from time immemorial. The essence of this feel of losing the earth and homeland, and also destorying the nature and earth, had been captured well by 'Raaja' and so I've included that piece in this.

Few years back while reading 'Kallikkaattu Ithigasam' Some visuals were forming in my mind... I've got the BGM for those visuals now :)

RS, I still remember Bhoomi Geethe, which I saw long back in ETV. It was a NFDC production. Atul Kulkarni (of Hey Ram fame) has given a stunning performance. The song Aa devarilli maaduva had amazing lyrics. The climax will bring tears to our eyes when the triabals would be forced to move out by the authorities, who use cunning methods and defeat the tribals with their own sentiments. The BGM was too great, especially the climax.

shiv sainya has quite a cachy and satisfying title track as chorus. enjoyed a few interludes in shambu songs. was watching dr. who tv show later and was intrigued by the theme music felt the shambu interludes had that amazing feel and such a spaced out melody. reading about the dr. who theme was a revelation about sound innovation and about tones as early as the 60s. i thought IR was one up introducing an electronic spooky tune in "sangathil padatha kavithai" song in 1979 which atleast was more brilliant than famous kraftwerk electronic songs. please check these out for rahman type sound engineering and ir type brilliance

I recently heard the song "Suno Oh" from IRR's Italy Concert. Which movie is this from.? Please share a copy. Are there any other version of this song. I heard the Malayalam version "KHANASHYAMA" from "Kochu Kochu Santhoshagal".

I happened to listen to this Remix (http://www.mediafire.com/?m2g3wznyzjm) and was amazed the way he has blended 'Ilamai Itho Itho' and 'Ponmeni uruguthey' for the first few seconds. The song is from the film 'un Kannil Neer vazhinthaal'. Otherwise a situation based song, but the start is too good that I wished he could've continued mixing those 2 songs only :)

Plum,

I've Uploaded 'Kiratakudu' in 'Telugu Raaja' folder of mine. The link will be up sometime later today.

Suresh,

Thanks for reminding me 'Chidambarathil Oru Appasamy' yesterday...listened to it after a long time and realised its again a hastily dimissed GEM by us Raaja fans :| Listening to 'Anaithu vidungal' I felt it was a spillover from Mumbai Express album (Jazz,Latin.( dont know which album he composed first cos both were released in 2005)...And He has never gone down on quality even on a single note for this album.
Who says he composes his best for Good Directors or for people who have keen ears to music?!! He does justice for the script alone and does that with honesty :notworthy:
I've uploaded it along with 'PonMegalai' and 'konji Pesalam' which got released around the same time, in 'Tamil Raaja' folder for your listening pleasure :)

When I started off collecting songs of Raaja from other languages, kannada was the toughest to crack. There was neither sharing culture in between the kannada film music lovers nor IR fans had a clue about the albums composed by Raaja in Kannada barring some famous movies like PAP, Geetha, JJA etc., When I stumbled upon the list of movies from HERE (http://www.kannadalyrics.com/docs/Ilayaraaja_Kannada_Discography.htm), I didnt know how am i going to collect these rare songs. But unrelenting journey towards the goal has left me here today Raaja's Kannada Albums (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=92d0c5a58eae7e5dab1eab3e9fa335ca7f014248 94a6bc83). Guitar tabs for "Chamber welcomes Thyagaraaja" from HTNI (only the first part)
http://www.wholenote.com/cgi-bin/page_view.pl?l=11264&p=1&a=0
It is arranged for solo classical guitar, but can be separated to multiple instruments.
btw I think the song is actually called "You cannot be free" (according to CSR review), but is wrongly named on the CD.

Suresh65,
Dhaagam edukira neram.... and many other songs of IR shows he his maestro of music. He simply had mastery over music and that too with primitive technology at those times.

Nowadays it is easier for any tom & dick to come up with sounds (oversimplification but possible with little effort) by using softwares (which does everything).

'enakkAga kAthiru' was a film directed by Niwas (BR's cameraman for 16 vayadhinilE to niRam mARAdha pookkaL).

'Oh nenjamE, idhu un rAgamE' (SJ-DC) is an absolutely breezy, timeless classic. A good version was never available on the web (or even in a company released IR songs collection CD that I have). This has one of those IR's signature rhythm patterns.

I'll try to get from this link once I reach home. Also one of our old hubbers, Vijay was looking for a good quality version of this as well. If quality is good, he may be interested.

DC-UR were given some wonderful songs by IR (the first one being the great 'poongathavE, thAzh thiRavAi', a duet for them in nizhalgaL).

dhAgam edukkuRa nEram had innovative arrangements for the time period when it came out.

There was a movie in which kannada lyricis ch uday shankar's son debuted as hero in thamizh. The guy - if you remember would play villain in Kamal's Kalaignan much later. That debut movie had IR's music if I remember correct - does anyone have mp3s of those songs?

jaiganes,
probably you're referring to "en arugil nee irundhaal" which had wonderful songs "oh unnaley naan pennaneney" and "nilavey nee varavendum". both are available in cooltoad.com

"Pongum aagaaya gangai" could have been much appealing if it was not by GA.

Just imagining a remix of it with voice of some one like Karthik now :)

"pongum aagaya gangai" is one of my favorite "alternative" songs of IR. Nowhere else can we see such an exquisite and daring prelude. The interlude is also grand and masterful. But look at the start with the "soda bottle" sounds, GA's rustic voice... its like IR is playing with music - like serving black forest cake on an aluminium plate in a roadside teashop! Only IR can do something like that (Another treasure like that is "Yeriyile elanthamaram")

Nisha,
you have listed few rarest of rare songs indeed!!!
I have listened to one or two in your list in some music online site. You please check out musicindiaonline.com or paadal.com or thiraipaadal.com or raagaa sites.

1. Kettal Ketta Varam - Dhurga Devi - Not heard
2. Devi Sendhoora Kolam (Pathos) - MV & SJ - Dhurga Devi - Locating this song should not be a problem as it was a popular song then.
3. Ulagil Enakku Than - Saindhaadamma Saindhaadu - I vaguely remember listening to this P.Susheela number which was, I think, listed under the movie "Gayathri" in musicindiaonline.
4. Nenjukulle Aasai Vacha - Pootadha Pootukkal - Not heard
5. Soorai Kaatril - Pootadha Pootukkal - Listened in one of the above mentioned sites. But nothing to write about if I remember correctly

Just curious, are you looking out for these songs for listening pleasure or nostalgia?

Thanks in advance.[/QUOTE]
