A man who stealed Film buffs hearts with subtle emotions on the Screen passed Away.

Coined the title "Kaadhal Mannan" by Pesum Padam he lived up to that. Yes he gave the new dimension of romance on Screen.

Acclaimed the Star status from the movie "KAnavane Kan kanda deivam" 1957 he never looked back

in 1957 there was a film "Yaar payyan" a true comedy entertainer.

Film had Gemini Ganesh, Savithri,NSK,T.A.Madhuram & baby Daisy rani.

The famous dialogue "Maganam porundhiya sree maan sunderrajan" by the kid is still in my memory.

By accident a kid comes in Gemini's car which is the main story. Gemini loves savithiri and asks her to take care of the kid for sometime till he finds a way.

Unable to bear the mischeif by the kid savithri sings this song. Thoughtful lyrics by Maruthakasi and beautiful rendition by PS makes this song a memorable one.

Yes, Gemini was a doyen of Tamil films. I think he was even senior to Sivaji.

Personally I would say that Sumai thangi was his best film.

Sumaithangi is, in my view, director Sridhar's best movie though it's not talked about as much as his Kalyana Parisu and Nenjil Ore Aaalayam. It's a well-made and acted film, with a strong storyline by novel writer Ra Ki Rangarajan. And the songs in this film are simply outstanding and my favourite is the PBS solo Manidhan Enbavan Deivamagalam and the way it has been picturised. It's a very serious and meaninful film, and Gemini Ganesan steals the show even though the film has Muthuraman, Nagesh and K Sarangapani as the other male stars.
