Though the interest is low for this album, a thread has to be created nevertheless

People use other social platforms for ARR discussions and I can confirm the interest in Lingaa is definitely not low. It's unfortunate that the ARR section in Mayyam is somewhat in a rut but that's the truth. If former contributers are willing to participate then we can achieve the bond we all once shared here but FB and Twitter has impacted and transformed hubbers including me. As far as ARRs recent albums are concerned discussions are on going in a full fledged but most users have their statuses on private and not public so sometimes vital info and discussions regarding ARR is only shared amongst a small group of people.

சூப்பரின் அடுத்த படத்துக்கு அம்மணி ஹீரோயினியா இருக்குமோ?

Watched "Lingaa". The songs and music fit the movie perfectly. Thalaivar has given exactly what a Rajni movie needs - although the intro song leaves a lot to be desired. Rajni himself seems to have lost that magic touch that he had even till "Sivaji". Age was showing even before in his appearance and is now showing in his reflexes too.

From another thread,

Why can't Rajini find a good director like Mahendran, Balki, Baala, Bharathiraaja to direct a movie that fits Rajini's age and style of acting? How did Rajini approve the crappy dance sequences (Mexican style dance & tune in an ancient Tamil period) with two young females who are a quarter of his age? With two massive back-to-back flops, Rajini should really look at what the fans want from him.

Balki along the likes of Mahendran, Baala, and Bharathiraaja? Seriously? Would it be the same Balki who directed two ordinary movies propped up by masters like Ilayaraja and PC Sreeram? The same Balki who made a mockery of progeria children in his second movie and got away lightly? This comment alone is sufficient to ignore this poster but then look at the next line.

"Mexican style dance & tune in an ancient Tamil period" - He is referring to "Mona Gasolina" song. In the movie, that song features the current day Lingaa (grandson of King Lingeswaran) and Anushka and so not "ancient" Tamil period. It is also only a dream song sequence. So, what is wrong in using a Mexican style tune?

While "Lingaa" did not meet expectations, it did make more than its budget and so it is all profit for the producer. The problem the distributors are having is that they paid a hefty sum and it hasn't collected that much. So they are requesting Rajni to step in and request the producer to compensate them for their losses.

Laughworthy second line. But may be the hubber wanted to highlight Balki here for the kind of roles he is giving to Big B.

irukkalaam Ajay. But there is a difference between Bachchan and Rajni, at least their fans. I don't think Bachchan's fans will accept movies where their idol romances young heroines at this age. Most of Rajni's fans don't see that as a problem. Rajni is a very good actor but he has to satisfy his fans. I don't think many of his fans would accept another "Johnny" or "Mullum Malarum". They want to see their hero romance a young girl, utter a few punch dialogues, bash up goons, and lip sync to a motivational song. Rajni's movies come out with big expectations and that raises the cost (for the distributors) also. While he could afford to take risks, the cine people who depend on him cannot. It is a business, after all. People may say all they want about purity of art and all such nonsense but at the end of the day what makes the world go round is money:-D

And it is not like Bachchan's and Balki's movies are all artistic either. The gimmick of casting Amitabh Bachchan in the role of a progeria child in "Paa" was pathetic.

Rajini doesn't have to do another Mullum Malarum, but he should at least work with some younger directors who have fresh ideas. He can't just try to appeal to the diehard fans. He must branch out to the other segments of the audience. If he does some lower-budget films, he can take some risks. I'm sure some young, creative filmmaker would love to use Rajini in a different light. Can you imagine what someone like Karthik Subbaraj could do with him?

It's about time he started looking towards his legacy. He had a phenomenal career as a hero, but at some point (probably after Chandramukhi) he should have transitioned to different roles. A 60+ man wearing wigs and heavy make-up, romancing girls his daughters' age looks absolutely ridiculous.
