The voters of Mulavaukadu-in Ernakulam District boycotted the by-election held on 7th November. The people have been demanding motorable road since long and they stood united and boycotted the poll. The opposition (UDF) won the election and today the Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan after the weekly cabinet meeting assured that the new road would be constructed within a month. _________________ 123456789 |

If they boycotted how did the opposition win ?
Was it a partial boycott - i..e low turnout but still higher than quorum ? _________________ To pretend not to do something I have to do it. So in reality I only pretend to pretend - Jacques Derrida |

It was a total boycott. It is a part of Ernakulam Constituency. _________________ 123456789 |

| As per this, it seems this has only resulted in reduction of margin for Cong which would have won with a better margin otherwise. Appears to be their fort as this report says UDF lost only twice in the history of EKM. |
