  This is the latest news from the sets of ‘Dasavatharam’. As per Kollywood buzz, the ten characters that Kamal is portraying in this film is said to revolve around the statue of Ranganathar. In short Lord Ranganathar plays a pivotal role in this film.
  
  One of the characters that Kamal would be playing in this film is Udhaar Mani. As the name suggests, this Kamal is a tourist guide with the gift of the gab and spins yarns and yarns to tourists to impress them.
  
  Making use of the latest technology in graphics, he has his picture taken with all the leading figures in the country and brags about them to naïve tourists. The unit folks are totally tight lipped especially about this character. Anyway, till the next news arrives, happy reading…

  There is no doubt that Hey Ram was a great movie and well written one. It is a disgrace that it did not fetch the best movie award for lot of fields..

  Later he is surprisedly met by his Father-in-law Uppili Iyengar and Subash Goel on the day when there is an attempt on Gandhi's life. You must see the complete surprise on Saket nee Bhairav's face.
  
  Uppili thinks by service to Mother India, Saket meant serving Gandhi and offers to introduce him to Gandhi through Goel. He, and his wife, are shown to be strong supporters of Gandhi (his tone when speaking to Gandhi later is of a humble acolyte unlike his daughter who claims on the plane to be objective in her admiration of Gandhi).
  
  So much so that in a line of black humour he takes Saket into company when he wonders about the foiled atempt that day: "மஹாத்மாவைக் கொல்லணும்னு ஒரு க்ராதகனுக்குத் தோணிருக்கு".
  
  This is important because (with the death of Abhyankar and Amjad) no-one except Saket knew about his intention to murder Gandhi.
  It was a personal guilt that he took with himself. Somewhere down the line, we presume he shared it with Mythili and it went down to Saket (Jr) who tells us the story. But one can believe the Saket lived with a 'clean' reputation most of his life and the secret was a closely guarded one. Even the doctor is shown as Saket (Jr)'s friend making us confident that the story is not told to all and sundry.
  
  Isn't it worse to be hailed a saintly Gandhian with an impeccable soul when you were anything but. The burden is comparable to the burden of Gandhi himself having to live with the Mahatma tag.

  I saw the concerned scene in Hey Ram again today. Without any doubt it is a great scene and no director of substance today can take such a scene well fitting with that period, the language, the lighting....

  When Munnabhai returned for a second instalment, I was dreading the day it would be re-made in Tamil. I had felt that Kamal was disinterested in the original version (Vasool Raja MBBS) and did it only for friendship and money. Now, the news is out. Though the same producers have bought the re-make rights for Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, Kamal will not be featuring in it (hopefully). The anti-climactic situation is that Rajni may star in it. Howzzat — Kamal in Part I and Rajni in Part II?
  
  Another interesting aside is that Kamal is said to be planning his next movie with Saran, who directed Vasool Raja.

  how can such a practical man think himself as a mahathma...he had his own negatives too and he is well aware of that...the main thing abt gandhi is he never thought abt himself as a mahathma or a great man even...he had written abt many situations in his life where he had been acted as a very ordinary selfish man ... that too certain things which no man will tell in his biography!

  Kamal is an actor who is not afflicted by the syndrome of having to necessarily see films immediately on their release. He makes an exception of only those films of his close friends and directors. One such is director Saran's 'Vattaram.' After completing 'Dasavataram,' Kamal is to act in a film produced by Saran's Gemini Production and directed by Saran. So, a special screening of 'Vattaram' was arranged for Kamal.
  
  Kamal was obviously pleased by what he saw, for he congratulated director Saran as well as hero Arya, especially the action scenes. He also gave advice not to take unnecessary risks. Arya is so pleased he's sharing this information with everyone he meets.
  
  We asked Saran how 'Vattaram' is faring. Now that all the attention for films of big heroes has slowed ebbed, the true results for Vattaram's success can be gauged slowly. He is happy that the film is doing well in A, B and C centres.

  Watching films written by Kamal is a unique experience.After growing up watching the film one would discover an aesthetic element, an angle of storytelling that was completely hidden till one sudden viewing. Then on it is impossible to not see the movie without feeling that pattern.
  
  In fact it could be so weak that one may not find anyone else who would agree with the interpretation.This happens to me on a regular basis with Kamal films. I can never be sure that the way I enjoyed it this time would be the same as it was last time or the next.
  
  The things with Kamalwritten films is they are highly deliberate. A line of dialogue, a frame of screenspace exists because it was meant to exist that way. Which is what propels you to wrestle with questions about why someone said/did something on screen. And it is most often rewarding.
  
  I have lost count of the number of times I have seen ThEvar Magan. Last week I saw it yet again. And there is something I felt which I felt like sharing in this thread.
  
  All is well on the surface till Sakthi gets Esakki to break the lock of the temple. A temple that is everybody's and nobody's like the sky. But the heavenly quest ends in the gruseome disaster that sparks things off. Ramu and co respond to setting fire to the opponent's huts. The opponents reply by blowing up the reservoir and letting the water flood in and kill. When Sakthi gets the better of that challenge (with a highly visual image of being soaked in the wet earth) Mayan is disturbed. The lawyer's cunning idea is to get back through land. The scene ends with the lawyer's wink and Mayan's smile cutting to a shot that is on a hole in the reddish brown earth where the fence is being planted. The plan sees the end of Periya ThEvar.
  
  The last faceoff does not end in a granary- as it could have very easily have been. But the fight is broken into two and a chase is inserted - even at the great risk of losing tempo which is why I feel very strongly about that the whole thing is highly deliberate. The chase takes Sakthi and Mayan into excessively windy open fields. The final encounter happens with veshtis fluttering wildly and Sakthi uses a minor God's weapon (which one may think of as the culmination of the cycle mishaps that began at a temple).
  
  Note the wind may seem like a really weak link here. But there is more than one shot of it which makes my case slighly stronger.
  
  1) When Esakki and Kanakku lead a gang to attack Chinna ThEvar's house, they rise from below in a frame. The crop in the foreground is seen to sway to wildly in the wind.
  
  2) Similarly when someone passes the news of Mayan's hideout to his mother, the atmosphere is very windy in the backyard.
  
  This whole attempt to see the story in the backdrop of an elements may seem nebulous but I put the reason why I put it forward is because of this:
  
  In the discussion in Chinna ThEvars house, Chinna thEvar asks what is the course of action. The possibility giving them a taste of their own medicine by burning their huts in reply,is ruled out. The henchman appears silly by replying :" adhu mudiyaadhungayya, mazhai peyyudhulla, amaththippudum" to which Mayan replies with "neruppukku badhil thaNNi dhaanE".
  
  On the surface this looks as if a gem of an idea germinating from the henchman's stupid remark. But I argue that it is more than that. It was a broad hint of how the elements are pitted against each other in the rest of the film.
  
  Elements have always enjoyed a supernatural status. But in the film they are cast as spectators and sometimes as part of man's weapons against his fellows. This helps connect ThEvar Magan to Kamal's pet themes of atheism (or atleast the impossibility of celestial relief) which puts the onus squirely on individuals.

Pancha Bhoodhangal is always a tecnique to show powerful scenes which are meant to create an impact in the audience. Now is this the impact...hmm..Maybe, a little vague though.

  Thats exactly what i was thinking as well..IF Kamal had deliberately induced such a link into the movie he may have mentioned it in some interview or the other..But again,I dont think he ever explained why he kept the shots of his wife's body changing into a gun in Hey Ram!/why he kept the scene where he stares into a a storm showing his well toned physique (again in Hey Ram!)..In fact there have been so many interpretations to some scenes in Hey Ram,and I dont think Kamal has given his reasons for them yet in any interview/write up..
  So,Its quite possible that Kamal and/or the director may have actually planned out those sequences along the lines of Prabhu interpretaions..

  "An Urban Legend - During the shoot one day the camera that was used for shooting Kamal in slo-mo gave some unexpected trouble. Singeetham was not happy. Kamal called Singeetham aside and said "I think I have a workaround, just go and ask for the take using the regular speed" and so did the director. Ramesh Sippy took two years to make Saagar. You have a formidable acting reputation to back up your films in Mumbai. I’m just a musafir (traveller) in Mumbai. I drop in once in a while and shake up the statusquo as I come and go. I’m not present in the market to generate faith in my standing. So when I do come with a film they say, “Ah phir aa gaya?!” But in Tamil Nadu it’s another story. Alabandhan is being looked upon as a huge event. Is there a Dravidian prejudice in Mumbai, because Madhavan too is facing the same kind of stumbling block. But Madhavan is facing a stumbling block in Chennai as well. If in Mumbai he’s seen as a Madrasi boy, then in Chennai he’s the Bombay guy. It’s unfortunate to enounter so many parochial attitudes. To a large extent, Tamil cinema is free of those biases. Many of your fans feel that Mani Ratnam’s Nayakan is your best film till date. It’s an important film. But even Mani Ratnam would say his best is still to come. Now when we’re thinking of working together again we’re scared whether we’d get an equally powerful script. Was Nayakan designed as a desi Godfather? Yes, both Mani Ratnam and I are great fans of Mario Puzo and Francis Coppola. All the same, we wanted to get away from the Hollywood stereotype and remake Nayakan into our environmnt. He hasn’t. He won several elections and even started his own party. He lost his focus on cinema for a while. How could I advise him against it? How can you tell the headmaster to run the school? I played a psychopath in the Tamil film Red Rose. Everyone expected me to go on stage and sing a pop number with girls. I told my director that a serial killer doesn’t sing. In our films everyone from a dentist to a follower of Vinobha Bhave sings and dances. I’m fed up of bringing music into every aspect of life on screen. We don’t need to mix genres. At the moment we’re cooking up a strange gypsy dish made up of leftovers and disposable food. Do you feel music is a huge impediment to our cinema’s progress? Yes. My greatest disappointment was when my hero Shyam Benegal succumbed to the song trap in Zubeidaa. See how the film industry is coercing some of our greatest filmmakers. When I first saw his work. I remember meeting him after Ankur and I asked him the name of his next film. He said, ‘We don’t have to name the film now since we don’t have to sell our songs.” I admired him for that. Now I can understand his desire to be market-friendly. We all have to change. He’s still my hero. Your fans want your talent to be recognised in the West. They should stop dreaming of an Oscar for me. Oscar isn’t the ultimate reward for an Indian actor. Hollywood doesn’t allow us to participate on an equal level; we can participate only as foreigners. It cannot be a world endorsement of cinematic excellence. It doesn’t even endorse American cinema fully. My dream project is to create a film festival like Cannes in Chennai where the top prize would be one million dollars. Then we’ll have Hollywood participating without reservation. Do you think our cinema is finally being noticed abroad? We need to take our cinema forward and free it from bigotry. I’m bored with what we’re doing. I’ve my own sensibilities as a filmmaker. I want to apply these to international standards. Hollywood comprises multi-cultural talent. Likewise, we need to wear our cultural badge and still look cosmopolitan. There’s a lot of speculation about your personal life. A broken marriage isn’t a crime. In Tamil Nadu, the press seems to respect my feelings. I’m a child of the Tamil industry. I’ve gone through grief. I repeat, give me my privacy. It’s my fundamental right. Your problems have made you compassionate. I always believe there’s no such thing as luck for those who deserve it. You’ve to work hard for it. I paid the price for wanting to be a director. I lost money but I gained critical fame. Now I wonder if the bargain was worth it. As a struggler, I dreamt of owning several cars, living in an air-conditioned home etc. I was paid Rs 15,000 per film and I was doing 10 films at the time.   The question is if Kamal looks at personal challenges/tragedies like any other human being,or if he looks at even those with a artistic view,so that he could use it as a reference when needed in future works..So in this case of Sarika's fall,Kamal says he was interested in knowing what actually happened(technially,as he puts it) but at the same time,not.compromising on his care for her..

  No. I am also a avid watcher of Kamal's interviews. There are so many subtleties that scream out in Mahanadhi and Hey Ram that Kamal has never talked about. There are tonnes. Let me quote just one from my favourite Mahanadhi.
  
  Krishna is roughed up by the jailer's guards, his remission is cut and Panchapakesan is released. An injured Krishna is in his cell and Panchapakesan comes to take leave advising him to be patient. Muthusamy thanks him for not lying under duress and recommends the same patience, albeit with a certain helplessness in his voice (not the self-righteousness of Panchapakesan). Then he hands Krishna a copy of Bharathiar kavithaigaL (a daft present to give when u r recommending patience !). In the whole scene Krishna is only groaning in pain, no words from him. Noone's face is seen, only outlines and silhouttes and the book is shining with reflecteed light (great work by the debutant cinematographer M.S.Prabhu).
  
  The next shot is one of veenai lying in the dust (puzhuthiyil veenai - a direct reference to Bharati's immortal lines). The ostensible reason is Kaveri,Barani and the gradmother are being kicked out the house and it is their stuff on the road. But there has been virtually no indication whatsoever that anyone in the house plays the veena. Neither visually nor in dialogue. Which makes it absolutely clear that the shot of the veenai was consciously inserted to continue the tribute to Bharati.
  
  I don't think Kamal has ever mentioned this in any of his interviews. It is actually not becoming of a poet to go about explaining himself. But sometimes his enthusiasm gets the better of him and he elaborates on his symbols (this often happens when he is chatting with people like Madan). But as a rule Kamal maintains an artistic reticence about why he did what he did. He would only gloss over it.
  
  I am not saying that my argument is necessarily correct regarding the elements in thEvar Magan. That may just be my opinion. But I disagree with your conclusion that it is not the case, just because Kamal has not mentioned it.

  Let me quote an anecdote. Apparently during Punnagai Mannan shoot there was one scne where Chaplin Chellappa was dancing from a high spot. Kamal slipped and fell and KB was really scared it may be bad when running to where he had fallen. Apparently Kamal's first reaction was: "cha camera runningle irundhurundhaa evvaLavu nalla shottA vandhurukkum sir !".
  
  It is the scary artistic instinct that sees all life as but material for cinema. Sometimes it can be monstrous as it makes the artist devoid of feeling and enjoying the aesthetic appeal of even personal tragedies.
  
  That is what the interviewer's question refers to. Kamal, in his reply, admits that it is true that he does consciously take mental note of personal tragedies for future refernce in his works, but this time his concern was greater than his curiosity.

  Vikram, its the first tamil movie to cross the budget of 1 crore.... You read about the box office report in sify and they keep using words like 'phenomenal', 'extra-ordinary', 'unprecedented' etc to describe a movie's opening at the BO... well Vikram was all of them combined...
  
  it took a monster opening and was able to sustain it for 2 to 3 weeks after which it faltered under its own expectations ...
  
  the box office result of Vikram was it did not flop... it collected tons of money for all concerned but did not meet up to the expectations of the public...

  Kamal Hassan, director K.S. Ravi Kumar and the entire 52-strong >Dashaavtar unit is flying to Los Angeles on Sunday November 12, from Chennai.
  In US, the Dashaavtar shoot will take place in LA and surrounding areas. Later a song will be picturised in New York. The unit will be in US for the next five weeks (35 Days).
  
  So far, 35 percent of the film has been completed, and with the US shoot nearly 70 percent of it will be over. Some interesting scenes between Kamal, Asin and Mallika Sherawat will also be shot during the LA schedule.
  
  Himesh Reshamaiah has already recorded three of the six songs in the film. Himesh had come down to Chennai and had a session with Kamal and Ravi Kumar before finalizing the songs.

  Hasan made his screen debut in a Tamil film, Kalathur Kannamma, at the age of six, which won him the first National Award for Best Child Artist.

At first they thought they were watching a documentary and were shocked by the daringness of the participants. They were quite surprised when I told them that this was a movie.   Maddy Dayavan Vinod Khanna couldnt give a stellar performance and the direction was not upto the mark.
  
  Nayagan if im right ran for 400 days and won a national award for Kamal and was also an OSCAR entry from India
  
  I bet no one can recreate the magic... an example is the 1970s classic THE OMEN. The original rocks but if you watch the new one THE OMEN 2006 technically its superior but its horrible when it comes to camera and screenplay.

  We are happy to announce here that we have successfully performed a Welfare Event as part of Thalaivar's birthday celebration. The event was the donation of

  * Original Software (Windows XP, MS Office 2003)

  to the Tamil Medium School (Thaai Tamizh Thodakka Palli) run by Lyricist Thamarai and her husband Thyagu at Ambattur in Chennai. We also gave box of sweets and snacks to all the students, administrators and parents who had attended the event.
  
  The school is being run with limited financial and physical resources and so we decided that, as fans of Thalaivar, we should pitch in to help them achieve their dream of propogating 'tamizh vazhi kalvi'. What better occasion than the birthday of Tamizh Thirai Kadavul to organize such an event?Currently, the school has student strength of 150 and we hope that more parents see the light of the day and provide their children with Thaai Mozhi Kalvi at the primary level.
  
  The event was organized on behalf of Orkut Dr. Kamal Haasan Community, Connemara Unit Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam and UniversalHeroKamal.com with support from the Paradise Unit of Kamal fans. The contributions were made by some of the members belonging to the above associations. The total cost of the event came to around Rs. 40,000 and we are proud to inform you all that 95% of that money went towards the items donated with only less than 5% going towards other expenses like logistics, organization etc.
  
  Needless to say, the school authorities were extremely happy with our activity and they responded in a telling manner by making the event a grand success with cultural programs by their school students.
  
  We are currently in discussions with the school administrators on giving them a helping hand on some of their other requirements. We sincerely hope that more members of the Orkut Dr. Kamal Haasan Fans community will come forward to participate and contribute in future welfare activities. If we can achieve such success with limited participation, imagine what we can do if more of us come together... the mind boggles...

  Whenever I watch Hey Ram SRK's Tamil sticks out like a sore thumb.
  The initial scene in the club in Karachi where SRK and Saurabh Shukla joke around the Tamil is patchy, not doing justice to the very authentic friendly banter written by Kamal.
  
  
  But all the while, Atul Kulkarni speaks with perfect emotion (not necessarily perfect pronunciation) but you will never, for once doubt that Kulkarni doesn't understand the words he speaks.
  
  Okay, Abhyankar was from Thanjavur and these Amjad's Tamil exposure is, presumably, restricted to his college days. But even accounting for that SRK could have done better.
  
  But in the last half an hour, SRK's expressions (with Kamal's lines) more than redeem him. Doubtlessly his best performance - not the overrated Darr
  
  Btw is that Vasudara Das in the last scene ? With all the make-up for the old woman and no close ups its impossible to tell. It is definitely not her voice. Vasundara's Tamil sounded very studied and bubbly and in the last scene the voice is well aged (sounds a bit like how Hema Malini sounds in the movie). And considering the movie had only live sound I really doubt if it was her. Anyone who managed to have a close enough look to say ?

  I really don't understand what Hema Malini's problem. Everytime she talks about Hey Ram she talks as if she was given a raw deal. What did she want a song and long weep scene ? She was given a neat role and she did pretty well in that overshadowing even Girish Karnad.

  Nagamani Mahadevan is ther name of the lady who played Saket's aunt Vasantha , but details of her acting history remain a mystery. My guess is that she may have had stage experience. Kamal has a knack of utilising talented stage actors (Pasupathy, Nasser, etc)
  
  And yes, I've heard that Hema Malini complains to anyone willing to listen that she was treated like a 'junior artist' during the filming of Hey Ram. Was she expecting to play Vasundra Das' character?? She had a plum role- Saket Ram's level headed mother-in-law who pretty much held the family together. I thought she did a great job; but obviously she wanted to do a duet in Switzerland. Whatever.
  
  PS: I finally managed to watch VV (PR, thanks for whetting my appetite with the youtube sequences). I managed to get my hands on a DVD version (although I wasn't too impressed with the quality). I'm letting the experience marinate before I give my take on this film.

  Panchathanthiram etc.. may be Sanskrit derivatives but like hubber Kalai Vignani PR had said in some thread, if we decide to go by etimology of words, how far do we go back?? Many so-called Thamizh words would cease to exist.
  
  Also, while Sivaji may not be a Thamizh 'word' how the hell is one supposed to make it into Thamizh??? It's a proper noun!
  The whole Thamizh film name racket reeks of Talibanism and Dogma....
  
  I wish both KSR/Oscar and Shankar/AVM have their way....

  We can discuss at length about Kamal's titles. Each one would generate an elaborate discussion because they so beutifully intertwined with the film. They usually have various interpretations and almost never just what they seem. When ThEvar Magan was followed by Chinna Gounder, Periya Gounder Ponnu (ironically starring Gouthami) it was a perfect case of people missing the point entirely.
  
  
  I am still not convinced about the title Mahanadhi. My friends and I have argued about the interpretation. Hey Ram is a great title befitting the film. In fact there was an article in the Hindu long back about the title and how Kamal had used the words, and even the concept of Rama at various points in the movie.

  Tempers rise and we see him bursting in anger (despite all his Western influences). But this not the first time we see him vulnerable to verbal taunts ( a very typically misplaced yardstick of bravery). We saw him getting reactionary even earlier in the kambu-sandai sequence.
  
  So when later in the movie Sakthi progresses to don the role of the Godfather we are led to believe that it is a 'change'. A change from his western self to a rustic lord. Or is it just a positive change of a man who is moving to his natural disposition, much as he would like to blame the circumstances (சக்திக்குள்ள் இப்பிடி ஒரு கிராமத்தான் இருக்கிறது எனக்கு இன்னிக்கு வரைக்கும் தெரியாது)
  
  The movie leaves us with more questions than it solves about likes, purpose, responsibilities. What is the role of external influences like education and exposure? To they add to our personalities or do they make us more aware of our shortcomings (post fruit-eating Adam) and thus move us away from our natural selves.

  While award cant add anything to KH, by giving the award to KH, the award will get its due respect.
  
  KH missed 4th award, since Avvai Shanmugi and Indian came in the same year and the later won the award and the toughest competition was between AS and Indian. 10A has good chance, provided the script is neat and not ends with a confusing, but usual, car chase.
  
  Bala KH is my dream come true. I still have Pithamagan hangover, so I am sure Bala-KH movie will keep me awake for another 50 year atleast.

  He wanted to cast the Marathi actor Mohan Gokhale for the role of Abhyankar. When Mohan Gokhale passed away he was replaced by another Marathi actor Atul Kulkarni (who went on to win the National Award). The Maharaja is played by the vetreanMarathi actor Vikram Gokhale.   I don't know, how many of you would have noticed kamal in AS with one long foot and one short foot.
  
  He actually reveals it in a scene, when he is along with maddy. His make up was awesome(stutches in faces, scars,broken tooth,short leg) etc..
  
  AS carried a heavy message in a lighter flatform. That's the reason it has failed in BO. However, it's a very nice movie talking about communism,hinduism and what not" Manitha Neyam" at the end. He should have gotten it for Anbe sivem.

  Yeah. Kamal keeps drawing attention to it in the dialogues that u sometimes feel he feels like crying out to notice.
  
  When u see the shorter leg, with the twist in the toe when Kamal lies down (not forgetting once the click his neck) it makes up for everything else.
  
  AnbE Sivam is not one of my favourite Kamal films. I feel it doesn't have the subtle touch of his early-mid 90s films (not to mention Hey Ram). Nearly everything with the flashback was wrong: the moustache twisting fight, stupid long scene with Madan & Co. , the cliched-as-hell mudhaLAli , the even more cliched rich-girl romance and love song (with flute and kambu sandai thrown in ).
  
  Needless to say it was the best film that year and all that but the movie was more about Kamal-the-actor than Kamal-the-filmmaker. I am bigger fan of the latter.

  I feel that the make up was for 2 reasons
  
  1) the initial combination scenes between Kamal and Maddy where Maddy looks down on Kamal cuz of his bad looks and weird manner..(For ex. the scene where Maddy shows surprise that even Kamal had a love life, and the scene where he comments that 'every dog has its day' etc). Infact the primary reason why Maddy tries to get away from Kamal could be attributed to his looks and the associated mannerisms.
  
  2)obviously the sympathy factor. Hero is shown as a handsome macho guy in the first half. His transition to a grotesque handicapped guy was probably aimed at evoking some extra sympathy.
  
  The film may not have the impact if Kamal was just a normal guy or somebody with a slight handicap, I feel that the entire Kamal- maddy combo rested on Kamal's incapacities & grotesque makeup

  I don't think they complain that Kamal don't give them much scope. They're happy with what was offered. Arjun had a good role in Kuruthipunal. Will any other actors give him a role like that? or will arjun accept if anyone else offers him?

  In Virumaandi Pasupathy, Abirami and that Jailor..
  
  In Thenali Jayaram..
  
  In his own production house 3 movies with different actors.
  
  1. Kadamai Kanniyam Kattupaadu
  2. Magalir Mattum
  3. Nala Damayanthi..
  
  He always backs up right talent and give them oppurtunity..
  
  He several times got back some forgotten old actors and gave them oppurtunity and new life.

  Prabhu was given a raw deal in vasool raja. If U had seen the hindi orogianl, U will know.
  
  Same is the case with vetri vizha also. Nagesh in nammavar did not have a big role anyway.

  I am much surprised to see you people forgetting VETRIVIZHAA.. Even at that time he gave him much scope in VetriVizha. VRMBBS > Prabu was pretty much low in the graph. That character is not something he should do. Yet KH gave him that role

  I don't understand why you say "You too"..In my opinion ,Kamal is the best in giving operunities to others ,and he even allow them to dominate him in many movies.
  
  He is the one puposely give importance to old people like Nagesh,Kakka radharishnan,Lashmi patti (mahanathi,MMKR).
  
  He is the one acted just one of 5 friends in Panjathanthiram..In tenali ,he gae good scope to Jayaram.

  Sometimes I even forget that NT acted in Padayappa..Nobody can complain that NT is not given big role.Since It is Rajini's father role ,Rajini could have preferred NT to act..That is OK.
  
  In Kuruthipunal .Arjun character is very important one .Kamal could have thought another action heo will suit for that and pproached him ..Arjun is a big Kamal fan ,so he happily accepted.
  
  Vetrivizha and Chandramuki both are Sivaji productions ..So no body can say Prabhu is purposely ignored.
  
  Seems people can easily blame kamal for everything.

  But we all know how many scenes arjun had in kuruthipunal. Kamal even apologised on the opening show that he had forgotten to add "guest appearance" to arjun's name in the titles.

  That kamal apoligised on the 1st day of screening of kuruthipunal in abirami stuff is not kisukisu.
